Does anyone on here have a Craig 601 or 608 8 track that is not working that they'd sell cheap? I want to cut the radio to fit in the dash and not cut the dash to fit the radio in so the cheaper and rougher the better, I wouldn't feel right about cutting up a good unit someone could use.

I had an enterprising if somewhat hair-brained, idea a while back...I've got a couple of Star Wars costuming buddies with 3D printers, and I thought about how neat it would be to have a 601 duplicated in plastic, just like a prop...all it would need is to be custom painted. ;D

I second that notion! If you need someone to 3d model it, I'm your guy! Considering how hard they are to find as originals (not to mention pricy  ), it sure would make it easy for Blumo owners (or anyone else) to have one that they could install in their dash vent (custom-cut for the fit, you know), and maybe even add some mp3 action to it, with a power source and speaker hookup. Rob You could wire a headphone jack through the back and the fake tape slot would be a nice place for an MP3 player. Then we could make a fake Sam & Dave 8-track tape to fit over the hole, and I bet it wouldn't be hard to put some LEDs in to add some realism. I'm game |
