Under "Dodge Monaco Stuff", we have -Details on 1974-1977 C-Body Monaco -Details on 1974-1977 C-Body Monaco - Police
and my vision for those areas are that they are a place where someone can say "what's the info on monaco rear defogger bezels throughout the years" and find the info quickly.
I'm think we've done a good job at that, and the info is easy to find.
But there are other threads of info on 74-77 monacos that we have, such as: -Monaco production numbers -VIN breakdown
I put those in the "brochures and manuals" forum, because they seemed to have "manual"-like information.
But I think Steam's intent in creating that forum was regarding brochures for sale, or links to downloads of manuals.
Should we create a new forum that is for things like the above. I'd like to keep them in a separate forum than the details forum. What about the new thread "fender tag moving/swapping/duplicating"? Without a better proposal, I'd say keep it in the same forum as "VIN breakdown" thread.
Since we have so few threads like these, I'd be happy if they just stayed in the brochures forum if everyone else liked that idea.

That's not a bad idea. Or possibly moving them to the Details on 1974-1977 C-Body Monaco and possibly making the VIN thread sticky so it's always immediately accessible from the top page...

If we got all the "top" info on: - vin breakdown - production numbers - DK vs. DP, etc., with the hideaway-non-hideaway and put that in one "general info" details thread, and kept it sticky as the top thread in the forum. I could combine that info with the "here's everyone's fender tag" info. That has thread some cool info in it, but it never really took off like I hoped.

I propose that we have a subforum called "archived threads" or "OBE threads" or something that says that the information is to be found in easier format in other threads. For example, for door weatherstripping, we have this thread: door weatherstripping(was Restoration Specialties) www.bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=parts&action=display&thread=217&page=2that covers my long process of trying to get stuff from restoration specialties, and inside the thread is info on the part numbers for front & rear weatherstripping that one can get from Steele. and there's this thread: Weatherstripping needed!! bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=parts&action=display&thread=602#ixzz2TOyozO1Gthat has some other info on the same Steele weatherstripping. I propose that I move those two threads to a new "archived / OBE" area, so that we don't actually ever delete any threads, but then I create a new thread: weatherstripping in the "bluesmobile parts" forum, and put the part info from Steele, info on what I found, how bills49merc fit, and how Christine58's passenger side didn't fit. The only other "archive / OBE" threads I can't think of would be a couple of threads I created discussing the visors and ticket light of the blumo, that eventually got merged into other threads. So this "archive / OBE" forum wouldn't be used very much, but the key is that it would make things easier for people to find in the future. your friend in forum ideas, arthur

Steam, what do you think about creating that archive subforum? I think madness has invaded you to the very core. all matt and no parts makes arthur a dull boy ;D Serially though I thought you were just giving a heads-up to something you were going to create. I figgered like I didn't have to do anything, eh. Which of the 6 categories would have the archived threads forum? ------------- The following threads are for 74 monaco DK41U4D ex-cop cars, and it seems confusing to look through the "blumos for sale" forum to find them. Okay, I can see that.

Hi Steam: I can't create subforums, so I can use your help figuring out what to call them, and then actually creating them.
How about you create a new subforum titled:
C-Body Cop Cars For Sale 1974 to 1977 Dodge and Plymouth.
and I move those cop-car for-sale threads in there.
And then change Cop Cars For Sale Police package or clones.
to Other Cop Cars For Sale non-74-77-c-body Police package or clones
--------------
For the "archive" setup, how about under "GENERAL", create a subforum titled
Archived Information found more easily in other threads
Or something like that.

I like the cop cars for sale kinda as it is... I think we all enjoy looking at mopar cop cars for sale regardless of body type.. How about a "mopar cop cars.for sale"? Instead of just 74_77 c body cop cars?
Just my $.02...

How about a "mopar cop cars.for sale"? Instead of just 74_77 c body cop cars? That's another good thought. The whole situation is a little confusing to me. We have the "Crown Victoria" subforum, with police cars in it: www.bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=vics&action=display&thread=1250What about "for sale" forums for: - bluesmobiles - real/replica cop car 74-77 c-body - 74-77 c-bodies - real/replica cop car crown vic - crown vic - real/replica cop car - Movie Cars/Clones - mopar - everything else and when posting a car, it's posted in the forum of the highest classification in which it fits? your friend in ideas, arthur

For the "archive" setup, how about under "GENERAL", create a subforum titled Archived Information found more easily in other threads. The GENERAL category has 3 boards; Introductions, Board How-to's and General Board. You propose "Archived" as a 4th board in that category? Or could Archived just be a thread in the General Board board, which could then be stickied. - I like the cop cars for sale kinda as it is... So do I actually. I'm not sure if Mopar cop cars would need it's own board as Mopars are pretty well the only cop cars posted around here. Although that board is now 7 pages long so maybe breaking it up would be more efficient at this point - The whole situation is a little confusing to me. We have the "Crown Victoria" subforum, with police cars in it: The description for the Crown Vic thread says, "1988 to 1991 preferably P72's." Essentially every single car in that board is a P72 cop car suitable for a BB2000 transformation. - What about "for sale" forums for:
- bluesmobiles - real/replica cop car 74-77 c-body - 74-77 c-bodies - real/replica cop car crown vic - crown vic - real/replica cop car - Movie Cars/Clones - mopar - everything else Seems like too much. We don't need a board for civilian Crown Vics as we never post any. What goes into the "mopar" board? The "everything else" I could see as a board something like "Interesting Vehicles" for sale, type of thing. Although it would seem more sensible to just have a thread for that instead of its own board. ? Ideas are good. Any other members wanna add some feedback?

The GENERAL category has 3 boards; Introductions, Board How-to's and General Board. You propose "Archived" as a 4th board in that category? Yes. So in the "archived" board, I'll move these two threads about weatherstripping: www.bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=parts&action=display&thread=217&page=2bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=parts&action=display&thread=602#ixzz2TOyozO1GThese threads have good info on part numbers and such, but it's hard to find. It's not anyone's fault. It took us a long time to get the info. > [regarding my proposed for-sale categories] Seems like too > much. We don't need a board for civilian Crown Vics as we never > post any. For the "for sale" forums, we currently have: - bluesmobiles for sale - bluesmobiles wanted - crown vic for sale - 74-77 c-bodies for sale - real/replica cop car for sale - Movie Cars/Clones for sale My issue is that we don't seem to have an ironclad rule on where a car is to be found. We have cop cars that aren't bluesmobiles in the bluesmobiles forum (or at least we did before I started this conversation - it looks like Steam moved them to the cop-cars thread). I really just want an easy way to know where to find something. I'd be happy if we kept the categories as-is, but rearranged their ordering, and we said "something is posted in the highest category to which it fits", and the list was organized as: - bluesmobiles - real/replica cop car - 74-77 c-bodies - crown vic - Movie Cars/Clones - bluesmobiles wanted That would fit my needs. If I was looking for an ex-CHP 1974 Monaco painted as a blumo, it fits these four categories: - bluesmobiles - real/replica cop car - 74-77 c-bodies - Movie Cars/Clones But the highest category that it fits is "bluesmobiles". That would mean that a car could move between forums, such a Ford Jockey's would have been as it was repainted to a blumo, then repainted back to original CHP. But that seems to be a rare-enough occurrence. How would it be if we left the for-sale categories names as-is, but just rearranged them and used the "highest that it fits" algorithm for thread placement?

Idk... seems like we are splitting hairs here. I think i kinda see where you are going arthur.
May I purpose another idea?? ;D
How about in the Bluesmobile-parts forum, we add a subforum. The subforum could be called/used for reproduction/new/vendor parts. Parts that are able to be bought new/reproduced from companies/vendors.
For instance Firm feel. Firm feel has performance suspension stuff. Steel for the weather stripping.
This way whenever one of us finds a company reproducing, or making new parts they will be easily found in the subforum in parts. This would leave the parts forum open to memebers, or john Q public to post ads about parts they have, or used parts.
This way were not searching through everyones stuff for sale to find a company that is making a new part we need.....
Again just my $.02...
