Had the car out in its first parade over the 4th weekend. It was a big hit. We all dressed up, I don't have my Elwood costume ready yet so my buddy Jeff dressed up like Jake and drove the car, my son was lil Elwood and the wife and I were Penguin's that handed out candy.I personally dont get the whole candy bit at parades these days but it seems to be the "thing". My buddy Mike drove our old 55 pickup as well.
We put a set of Samson self powered bluetooth speakers in the back windows of the car and created a playlist that had Blues Brother songs and movie quotes, it worked really well. I'm actually tempted to build a roof speaker and integrate a pa system into it. I've never really been a fan of the speaker but I think it would pretty cool for a parade like this if it was functional.
The car has been running much better these days. I figured out the bain of my transmission performance issue was due to improper throttle valve linkage geometry. That figures. Remember all the trouble I went to to modify the stock linkkage? Well that was all for nothing. Ended up replacing the whole throttle kick downn linkage with a cable set up from A&A transmissions in IN. It bolted right on, took about 40 min and works great. I now have 3 distinct gears! Just had to toss all of this.
The car hauls ass on the road and corners excellent but it's still a bit of a dog off the line. Kind of kicking myself now for going with 3.21 gears, should have done 3.55. Also still thinking about putting a stall converter in it. Ill probably do the converter first then gears, or say screw it and pull the engine and have the bottom end rebuilt with good pistons and put Edelbrock heads on it! I think that low comp bottom end from the RV is killing it.
