Alright Arthur, here you get to see just why I have wanted to get this front end done up for so long. Check out this fender!!!!!! Or what is left of it! lol Well, I admit, there was more rust than I was expecting. You're doing a great job taking care of your car. But once you patch it all up, then I hope that you put some dents and holes in it like blusmbl did to his. your friend in blumo beauty, arthur

Thanks guy's! Yea spanks, I know nothing about metal repair/welding.. Luckly my buddy is helping me out! I'll leave the metal forming/welding to him, and do all the grunt work. Removing, cleaning, painting, yada yada yada. Thanks arthur! Yea I had a bit of filler in that fender. However there was still quite a bit more metal there when I did it years ago. Luckily now it is getting some decent repairs to it. The guy helping me was busy with his own stuff today. Went and grabbed the radiator core support, and other parts to disassemble, and paint. Let them dry for a day or so, and head back sunday. Kind of surprised at how bad the core support was. I knew it was bad, but not this bad! Once the front of the driver side fender was unbolted I could grab the front of the car, and lift it off the frame! Thank god though the frame is still nice and solid! A bit of scale on it, but should clean up decent. All the sheetmetal is trash though. hopefully can start putting her back together sunday. One good thing, all the work, and painting I did a few months back on the front end parts I have, will make it a lot quicker going back together.

Man, all these rust pictures have hot me worried about my front clip. I hope my clip is solid when we pull it apart.
Is that a previous repair on that core support with the "L" bracket?
It will be fun bolting up all those fresh parts you cleaned up months ago.

Man, all these rust pictures have hot me worried about my front clip. I hope my clip is solid when we pull it apart. Same here. That front fender's corner one of the worst places in any cars, even those which haven't swimmed in salt. It's mother nature's revenge to put the dead leafs and such there which plug the factory water draining holes and melts the place from inside. Once had quite clean '88 Civic(a sedan) which only had smaller rust issues in the rear wheel hole. Until I accidentally kicked the fender and my foot went through it- took the fender off and it was filled with mold/dirt all the way up to a-pillar.

Yea spanks, the L bracket was for the battery tray. The tray obviously rusted away a few years ago. I had a '67 fury with a nice battery tray. I had my buddy up north weld the bracket in for the new tray. The bracket actually went another 5/6 inches and was welded to the inner fender. Had to cut it in half to get it off. Hopefully your guy's cars are not in this bad of shape. Honestly my car has the worst front end sheetmetal on it, out of all the monacos of this era I have seen. My car had soft metal in the front when I bought her years ago. Still had metal, but was starting to go. Along with some use in the wonderfull salty winters up north it took its toll. Got a few things accomplished today.. Threw some paint on the subframe, attached a few pieces, put some seam sealer, and paint on the patch on the fire wall. Also got the new core support in place, but not bolted down yet. After getting the new core support in place, and putting a few bolts in, you could really see a difference. The old support, and sheetmetal had rusted away/settled over the last 38 years that when we put it in, the passenger side fender was bending, and cracking bondo. Did not line up with the door at all lol. I did call the dude who has the fender I bought.. He told me he has a friend who has been in the hospital the last 26 day's and has been real busy and what not. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.. He says it will be mailed out tomarrow. We will see...

Got the core support all buttoned up. Put the old fender back on to line everything up on top. Had to drill 2 holes in it for the front support bar with the A/C dryer on it. The '76 core support didn't have the holes for it.. Also made a new square washer for the top rubber bushing mount on the passenger side, that mounts the core support to the frame. Other then that everything has bolted right back up with no problem's. Starting to look good! Im getting excited lol. With the core support back to where it should be, the front fender's are deff a bit higher in the front. You can now see the top of the front tires, where as before you couldn't. Might have to bring the torsion bars back down a little bit. lol Won't be able to get back to work on her till this weekend. Gonna be out of town. Hopefullly can start making up the driver side fender then, and my passenger side fender will be here!

Rob I felt like such an idiot! lol I was talking about it with the girlfriend, and she say's "well isn't it a royal fender? wouldn't it be a royal fender emblem?" Went online to google, and Doh! lol Sounds good to me rob! Orange park ehh? Do you like chinese by chance? I LOVE the orange buffet!! Deff my favorite resturant! haha. Damnit you already have me planing and waiting for this! If you don't like it though, fine with me! Im just a saying lol On the fender, glad you like it! I to wanted to do it, but had never seen pics of it either. There is still some fabrication work to be done on it. The royal fenders dont have the place to mount the headlights. The metal is a complete different shape. See the white lines around the holes on the royal fender? Those need to be cut, and bent to accomidate the headlights. Also need to weld some metal in, to connect the inner side of the fenders together. Ill let you know how it goes. zac

This fender has been kicking my ass the last week! I think I'm getting it though! I knew the fender had some filler in it when I got it. Looks like it was in a little fender bender, and put a few dents right above the wheel opening. After digging the 3/4inch of bondo out, you could see a spot where they welded at, to hammer some of it out. I still think though whoever repaired it just wanted to see if they could fit a gallon of bondo in this fender though! Jesus H! Anywhase wire wheeled her clean, and started hammering out/filling dents. She did have a couple rust holes towards the bottom, so welded them up when we welded the front corner on. After getting it home, and cleaning it, found a couple more pinholes. Wire wheeled the hell out of em, and applied some rust convertor. Hopefully this will keep it at bay. Almost ready for a final sanding Had to take the fender back for a couple more welds today, but got it all finished up. Applied some more filler, and she is done! Well the outside atleast... Still have to deal with the back side... Damnit! Located, and drilled the new holes for the emblem's, again thank you blusmbl! A bit of a difference huh?? Some primer Nice and dry..
