Movin right along! It looks good. My car is just the opposite, my black is hot rod black and the white is gloss. They are pretty different. If I have to, I plan on wet sanding the white to cut the gloss a bit. I plan on letting it age and weather a bit first before making a decision. Thank you my man! It is deff a amature paint job! Has some orange peel and what not. But I'm happier with it then I thought I was gonna be. I hear ya on the paint matching. It is wierd seeing the 2 together. But like you, I'm gonna let it age. The sun here should knock the black down quite a bit, so we shall see. The car looks naked without the lettering on the side, and trunk! Does not look like the same car. Then again, it is wierd seeing it with glossy paint as well! Look forward to your updates on yours!

Damn arthur, I can't keep anything hidden from you!! haha Car is coming along. It has been doing nothing but raining the last week. Have to work on it in small intervals. Finally had a chance to pull it out in the sun for a while today. Been starting to piece it back together. Also got to spray the rear doors last night. hopefully will get the front doors, and rear door window frames in white today. This is deff not the best paint job. But thats the point! So im happy with it. I promise to get the real camera out soon, and shoot some pics. It's just so easy to do with the phone. Now I need some opinions... On the front header panel, what do you guy's think? Should I leave the DODGE lettering, or remove it, and fill the holes in? I'm not going to just remove the letter's and leave the holes. Just a personal thing. But I might remove them, and fill em in... thanks guys! zac

I'd remove the letters and fill the holes.

I'm choosing to leave them on my car because I show it with the movie poster and, on the poster, the DODGE letters are clearly present.

I'm not going to just remove the letter's and leave the holes. Just a personal thing. But I might remove them, and fill em in... The thing with the least effort (leaving empty holes) is also quite movie accurate, so I vote for that. But if the options are "install lettering" or "fill the holes", then I vote for fill the holes. You can always throw dirt over it and maybe nobody will notice that there aren't any holes. But now that I think about, maybe you should just put the lettering on. Then when you're sleeping, I'll come and steal them all, sell them on e-bay for $100, and send you the money from "the spirit of the blues", and you'll be rich and have a cool movie blumo header with holes.

well arthur.... If money is involved, maybe ill keep em on haha. Idk i could leave the holes just as they are, but thats just something that would bug me.. Idk haha, it would make ut real simple and easy though!
Sorry tony, if they come offvim gonna hold onto them. Every part that comes off/or switched out i like to hold onto. Only thing ive gotten rid of was my 12o speedo i traded with arthur, to sit in the MMofA. With instructions that if he ever to get rid of it, it comes back to me haha.
Ill just have to see what happens with the header panel when i get to it, like everything else. I still need to get my hood off sometime, if my damn fender ever shows up! Its been a month now.

Alright.. There gone. Do I pass??? lol Idk guy's... Im not getting some good vibe's on the fender I bought. The guy was all happy, and talkative when I called him about the fender. After he got my money, he has not been so quick, and giddy. Also he has been lacking in responding to me. Last time I emailed him, he said the fender was being picked up by the shipping company 2 weeks ago, and once they did, he would send me the shipping info. I have not heard back since then. I sent him an email the other day, and have not heard back. I don't mind if he has not shipped it yet.. But atleast let me know whats going on. Shit you got my money! lol Sooo... Since it looks like I may not be getting it/anytime soon. Im gonna work with what I have again.... (sigh) hahaha. I need her back on the road. The newport is draining my funds going to work!! lol

We eventually need to get together and tour the country and do donuts in everyone's yard that's kept our money and not sent our parts. On the flip side, I like the front lettering removal!

The letter removal does look good. For some reason I am partial to letter less header panels.
That sucks about the fender. Where is is coming from? Is there any way another forum member could retrieve it then at least you know it would be in good hands until you could arange shipping? I am skeptical of anyone who refers to their "shipping company". My shipping and receiving department is me. And any shipper I have ever delt with gives a tracking # of some sort the momentan an item is in their possession.

Thanks guy's! I think it looks good without the lettering on the header panel. A bit wierd seeing it without them on the car, but I can live with it. Hell I've got em bagged and tagged going into the box-o goodies in the trunk, so if I ever change my mind down the road, they can go right back on.
I just feel like I'm re-half assing the car again. I was hoping to remove everything on the front end, and clean, sand, and or paint.... Now Im just repainting what is already there, instead of putting my new stuff on. But like I say the car needs to get back on the road. If the truck was running, she could sit idle for a while, while I work on her. But thats not the case. Newport is fun to drive, but not everyday haha.
I do have all contact/address info on the guy I bought the parts from. If anyone is near Churchville PA, 18966
and wouldnt mind grabbing it, please let me know. Maybe try and beat my shipping money out of him, as he already has that to. will gladly throw you a few bucks.
Im gonna give it another week or so. Ill shoot him a call in a day or two, and see what he has to say.
Thanks! zac

Well things have turned quite a bit the last couple days.... I started sanding down the front driver side fender, and a hole started to form. The hole kept getting bigger, and bigger. This is when I realiezed we need to do some serious rust repair. So threw the front bumper back on, put some gas in, and took her to my buddy's place, and took him up on his offer for help with body work. It has been a BUSY last couple of days! Alright Arthur, here you get to see just why I have wanted to get this front end done up for so long. Check out this fender!!!!!! Or what is left of it! lol and ofcoarse, look what we find hiding behind the fender... Today was spent patching the firewall, and removing what was once a radiator core support. It is a very crude patch job.. However as I told him, Im not worried about how it looks. As long as it is strong, and does not rust anymore im fine with it. No one is going to see it anyway. Here is what a royal fender looks like on a base monaco. Makes me think of the marin county cars haha. Gonna cut the front corner of the base fender, and weld it onto the royal fender. Hoping tomarrow I will have the passenger side fender off, and the new core support on, then start mocking up the driver side fender. Ive got my fingers crossed that my passenger side fender will show up in the mail.. however Im not holding my breath. If the driver side fender comes out real good, just might do the same with the passenger side.. Was hoping to get the car back on the road soon.. But she NEEDED the repairs. There was not gonna be much car left at the rate the front end metal was going.

Wow, that is some significant rust. I was hoping this post was going to include news about a fender that finally arrived. I think you are on the right track. Take your time on those welds and I bet it will turn out great. If I was in your position that's what I would do....heck, who knows I might be. I haven't taken fenders off of my car yet.
