Hey guy's,
Looking for info on how to remove the hood from the car, without getting smacked in the head with a spring lol.
Anyone have a step by step on removing, and re installing?
Thanks! zac

Ha, ha.
Zac, I was just looking at this today, as I prepare to pull some more parts off the NC car.
It seems to me that with the hood open the springs are close to relaxed. Two people each with one hand on the hood and the other on he spring, it appears you can pull the spring forward to release it from the catch. Then lift the hood up further clearing the springs of the catch. Then have someone hold the hood open and unbolt he hinges.
I have not done this but this is how I would tackle it.

The "official" instructions are on the bottom of Pg 3-1, and the top of pg 3-2, in the 1974 Dodge Body Manual.

Yep, I took mine off the way Spanks described it. Pulled the spring forward and past the catch. If you like how the hood fits now you might want to take a small drill bit like a size 40 and drill through the hinge into the hood at the front of the hinge and towards the back to index it, that way when you put it back on you can line up the drilled holes and the hood will be back where you started. It is a bit of a challenge putting it back on and adjusting it. When you pull the springs forward away from the catches you might want to have a small piece of plywood to rest it on just aft of the catch roller area because the spring will want to push down on the upper firewall ledge and possibly gouge it. Have help holding the hood up. I tied mine off to the rear bumper with a chord just to make sure it wouldn't come down until we were ready for it. Good luck with it.

Thank you guys! Hopefully I will be able to try this out in a few days. Ill give it a shot.
Im not exactly thrilled with how the hood is positioned at the moment... It looks good, but needs to go to the drivers side a bit more. How much of a pain in the ass do you think this will be??
