So. I bought a '74 Monaco sedan recently and this seems to be the right place for asking stupid questions about everything related to it. edit1 Pictures: s112.photobucket.com/albums/n195/n665/1974monaco/edit2 I'm also "blogging" here because I want to remember the stuff I've done to the car from the beginning. edit3 Retired from kitchen stuff, too much competition in that bizniz

Congrats on the car and welcome. Lots of folks are looking for these cars, you are lucky to have one.
Where did you get the car?

Welcome aboard, Sd.Kfz. Ask as many questions as you can think of, lots of helpful folks around here. If you feel like it you can start a thread for your car in the owners category. We look forward to seeing pics of your Monaco.

We look forward to seeing pics of your Monaco. So do I! I bought this one bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sedans&action=display&thread=580 and I'm still waiting for pics from the "agent" guy who I used to get it shipped to Finland. He can't send them forward from his phone. I was told that "no rust, drives good and bad seats, interior otherwise good"- which was enough for me, because I wanted a driveable project car. Overall costs from the car, transport on land & container, agent's fee & import tax+VAT, are about the same as car from here. Well maybe a bit more, but it's hard to find unrusted 4d sedans from here(actually there has been only two or three 4d sedan's for sale in the past six months - a 76 Royal or two and a 76 Gran fury). And this is a real 74 so I don't even have to find the front clip. Not sure about converting to blumo though.. Maybe someday if the pushbar is street legal here. It's DH41M4

Monaco's are actually more plentiful in Finland than one might think.
Between here and BBC, I count (11) 74-77 Monaco's for sale in Finland, in the past 18 months. (and nearly all of them 4 doors).
Sd.kfz ...
Am I reading correctly that you specifically wanted a 1974, but not a Bluesmobile? Do you just like the look of the '74 over the other model years?
( Just curious why someone would want to change a front clip, without wanting to create a Bluesmobile.)

^Well a '75 would be ok too. Obsession you know.
I've followed finnish sale sites for about 7-8 years, but the difference is that now I had the money to buy one. I've missed few cheaper opportunities over the years due to slowness but the prices have gone from 2-3000 euros to 4-6000(or more) for not so good ones and almost every one is a royal or ht.

Now the car's almost in the container + title & other paperwork ready. I think 3-4 weeks and I can pick it up. I also got few pics:

Sd, your Monaco looks in really good shape! I agree, that's a fine looking '74. Thanks for the pics, Sd.Kfz., I hope it arrives to you without incident.

That is a nice one!
Heck, if the seller had posted better pics I probably would have tried to buy that one too!

They are going to put it in a container with another car, nothing above it, but I think I'll pay the 60eur for cargo insurance. And it really looks better than I expected(too)- can't do flat black with a mohair roller like I did to my '79 Dodge van.
