- This film did not win any Oscars, probably because of all the boobs. The police car sure looks like ex-CHP (* with that paint scheme more like LAPD). - www.imcdb.org/vehicle_1230140-Dodge-Monaco-1974.htmlOfficer Archie is a "drink-on-the-job" type of alcoholic and subsequently can't find the addresses given to him by dispatch. He even uses a map and becomes frustrated at times looking very much like Skipper from Gilligan's Island, lol. Oh that Archie. The girls have big boobs and they like cars, this girl is a Mopar fan and even has MONACO on her shirt ... - www.imdb.com/title/tt0076149/Officer Archie and the Monaco appear several times. There's really no reason for his existence that I can see, he drinks, he gets lost etc. The best daytime footage of the car is actually during the opening credits. The film is age restricted, probably because of all the boobs, it's a comedy .

- Is the movie Monaco actually a recently retired LAPD police car ? They changed the shield border a bit it looks like , and the white rectangle on the door is covering the "to protect and to serve" I reckon. And they removed the word POLICE as well. ^ That's likely a clone but a good representation of the graphics. Here's a bit of damage on an LAPD Montego from Gone In 60 Seconds ... It seems the LAPD would sell their 100,000 mile cars to movie companies with the graphics still intact. There are other examples at the IMCDb with the full LAPD graphics still on the doors. Maybe they only did that for cars sold specifically to movie companies and civilians got the spray bombed units ? To retire in 2 years if the average is 140 miles a day for 2 years that would be just over 100,000 miles.

- I would imagine then that if the LAPD allows their full logo and graphics to appear on movie cars, the officers must not be shown in questionable conduct, or misconduct I suppose with Officer Archie and his drinking on the job. I guess the director thought the donut thing was old and went with the drinking instead. Here's the funny thing, Officer Archie is the director ! His name is Patrick Wright, now deceased (1939-2004)and he has a fairly extensive resume at the IMDb, about 100 different movies/TV shows as an actor. 3 times a producer, 6 times Second Unit Director or Assistant Director and one time as a director ... Hollywood High (1976). - www.imdb.com/name/nm0942698/You've probably seen him as a cop or tough guy along the way. As Sgt. Danner in Roller Boogie (1979) ... He was in a couple of Duke's episodes in '79 and '81. Here he is in an episode of the sitcom Night Court in 1985. Hollywood High didn't hurt Patrick's career at all, he just wasn't asked to direct a movie again, that's all . RIP Patrick, I bet he'd have quite a chuckle at some guy in Finland being inspired by the movie 44 years later and writing/recording a song about it ! It's actually an excellent song and video .
