So there I was eating my lunch yesterday watching the new episode of "Junkyard Gold" on the motor trend app. Host Steve Magnante was standing in front of a 74 Fury in the coming attractions which grabbed my attention. If you have never seen the show Steve travels all over the country filming in Junkyards and showcases rare and unusual cars still sitting in Junkyards. The Fury feature comes on and sure enough it is a real deal 440 74 Fury Police Package car. The first thing I can think of is "140 SPEEDO!!!!" which is the final piece I need for my Bluesmobile clone. Steve even makes it a point to show and explain why Police cars had certified speedometers. I race to the phone and call the junkyard mentioned and YES it is still in the car! He agrees to hold it for me until 8 am this morning. I jump out of bed at 6am take the 1.5 hour drive to SC and there it is sitting on the counter in all its glory waiting for me. To make a long story short the owner will sell the WHOLE CAR or parts whatever you like he is a Southern gentleman and a real pleasure to deal with. I tried to get back to the car for some photos but July is the worst month to explore in a Junkyard (snakes, Poison Ivy, killer spiders and mosquito etc) plus they had a huge rainstorm last night and every path was muddy and flooded out. I took some screen shots from the show and here is the contact info for the yard. The owner tells me the speedo is the only part removed from the car since the shows filming. Here is the contact info VICK'S AUTO PARTS & CARS 815 Rutherfordton Hwy. Chesnee, SC 29323 (864)461-9071

That should be a steel crank HP 440 with all the coolers to make a nice rebuild like we did. Thanks Attachments:

^ Cool story, what a way to find a 14o. Almost like the Lord was working in mysterious ways for you . ----- (snakes, Poison Ivy, killer spiders and mosquito etc) It's believed by police that there's skeletal remains still to be found in that yard. Foul play or some folks just went too far back ... ? Here's a partial tour from 2 and a half years ago ...

Great find! Scores like that are why I love junkyarding. There are still treasures out there waiting to be (re)discovered. Just gotta know where to look, and be ready to pounce!
Were racing in SC come September, maybe swing by...

Wow.. I was on motortrend the literal hour that episode aired, saw that speedometer, called the next morning and he said he it's still in the car and I asked him to hold it for me and give me a call once it's out and I'd transfer him the money.. I feel cheated LOL but I'm still happy that a fellow Blumo lover got it where it'll be appreciated!
