There are three cars listed here, but it says the auction is only for the '74 Monaco, supposedly ex-NYSP. Last ran eight years ago. 1974 Chrysler Other | eBay

Cool car, and close to home! But is that price for real? Just the rot I can see looks terminal. Crack pipe...

Someone's gotta message the guy and let him know it won't sell for that, but we gotta get it outta there.

We can mark this one as "sold." I don't really know why I needed this car, but it was close and cool and I wanted to rescue it.
Apologies for the crappy pictures, it was a long hot day to get to this point. This poor car has been buried for god knows how long in the least accessible spot in the least accessible back yard I've ever encountered. At least the owner was a friendly guy!
Easily the rustiest one I've encountered too. Quarters are gone, fenders are gone. Bumpers falling off. The whole front clip (read: subframe) was flexing as I was yanking it out with my truck.
As soon as I get it back to the garage, I'll start a part-out thread. Header panel is good, front bumper ok, one of the headlight bezels is cracked. 14o "certified" speedometer. "Cop" suspension, spotlights on both pillars. Tan interior, but I haven't gotten the doors open yet to take complete stock. I'm keeping one (yes, one!) of the 440HP's (it has a replacement engine in it from another NYSP cruiser) but the rest of the car is available. I even have a title!

... and I wanted to rescue it. And we thank you ---------- That looks like a substantial amount of rubber on them there pushbars ... There is a vintage pic of a '74 NYSP around but it doesn't have pushbars ...

Probably more than I should have, but only a fraction of the original asking price. I'll be happy to break even parting out the goodies, but I wont know for sure until I take stock. Better pictures coming soon, I promise!

That looks like a substantial amount of rubber on them there pushbars ... I forgot to ask the owner, but he *may* have built those himself. I tripped over another set that looked just like them while wandering around his yard. He recounted pushing stranded cars off the road with the Monaco "back in the day before cell phones."
They're made of flat ~1/4" plate welded at 90s with those dock bumpers bolted on. I'm now curious to know their origin.

I was after this one, now I know where it went and why he never returned my call when I was supposed to go see it. Those push bars were probably original, it most likely used to patrol near a bridge or tunnel going into NYC and they don't have breakdown lanes or shoulders to park on so the police would push you off of the bridge or out of the tunnel if you broke down. Possibly they used them on the NYS Thruway too.

Pat, keep us posted on the header panel letter holes, it was a conversation in another thread on here a while ago. Also I might be interested in the carcass or some parts depending on what you are doing with it.

What am I looking for re: letter holes? Different size? Location? Just from memory, they appeared in the same as the ones on my car?
The seller is an older guy and was hard to contact (read: no internet) so everything was relayed through a friend. It was slow going.
I really just want the powerplant (and my racing buddy the speedo) My plan was to strip the good bits off and crush the carcass. It's that bad. If someone wants the whole thing, I'll certainly let it go "cheap." But I'm not sure what I have yet. Stay tuned...

As for the letter ho;es, look at the pic above of the NYSP car in service, notice the small DODGE emblem on the header to make room for the STATE POLICE lettering, that was factory on these. As for the carcass, my dream '74 Monaco would be an NYSP car, I stupidly passed/missed out on the one restored one in the world years ago thinking it was too expensive for a old police car, now here is the one other out there, I have "Whitey", the southern CA car which is fairly solid, get the picture?

Is that 60 Caddy next to the Monaco a convertible? I imagine it's about as rough if not rougher than the Monaco though. Just curious. Glad you saved her brother! Her parts anyway! LOL
