If there's one thing I love as much as The Blues Brothers if not more, it's FLCL. The show ran for 6 episodes in 1999 or 2000 and was just announced that the original production company will be working with the Cartoon Network program block Toonami to make a 2nd and 3rd season 17 years later!
Just as I fell in love with The Blues Brothers for the music and car chases, the music, robot fights, and animation of FLCL tugs at my heart strings! Almost the entire soundtrack for the show was made by a Japanese rock band called The Pillows. They have a really unique sound and even if you can't understand what they're saying, the music is really good.

- Were those 6 episodes ever shown on TeleToon? It's possible I may have seen this show, right around the early 2000's it seemed like there was a TON of these anime type shows on the cartoon channels. This dude is from FLCL, right? He's got a "P1" on his ride just like the Bluesmobile!! Haha so yeah it's actually. "P!" which I read is the logo for the group you mentioned, The Pillows. But it seems there was some confusion surrounding that, as some felt it was a logo for the scooter, the Vespa Piaggio. Funny thing is, the Piaggio logo is indeed on that scooter, it's under the headlight and looks like this ... So the P! being the band logo makes sense. I mean geez the dude rides around with his bass ... must be putting the band back together.

Not sure, it was on Adult Swim here. Dude is a chick. Bass is a weapon. lol
I think I saw this first then I saw the Blues Brothers. They both appealed to me because I hated music when I was young and they opened me up to new stuff and threw in car chases and robot fights. No internet meant all the music was stuff on the radio in the 90's and I hated greenday and nickelback and that was all there was. It was a dark time.

After 18 years waiting, the day came and went.... And I don't have cable to watch it.
