Hello:
Finally decided to join the board in my search for a 74 Monaco. I have a small collection of cars which includes a 1965 Chevy van, 1978 Trans Am, 1980 Corolla, and a 1965 VW bug with a rotary engine.
As The Blue Brothers has always been one of my favorite movies, I've always wanted a Monaco. I actually prefer a solid color brown or green. I'm not looking to make an exact Bluesmobile replica, although I'll take what I can get! If anyone has anything for sale, please let me know.

^ Hello, thanks for joining us here at the Palace Hotel Ballroom We still see a fair number of Royal Monaco 4-doors, hardtops and sedans, and still some fair prices out there. With those cars, if you're not too concerned about making a Blumo replica, those Royal's can look great with just some of the fancy trim removed and a set of dog dish hubcaps. And if you've perused some of the cars for sale here you see the high end of the spectrum as well, just gorgeous time capsules low miles loaded Royal Monaco's. Wash, drive and preserve lol. The '74 and '75 Monaco sedans and hardtops, are not plentiful to say the least. They're still popping up though, from time to time, so keep checking in.

Hi Steam:
Thanks for the reply. Royal Monaco's all have the hidden headlights right?

^ Yep. Royal Monaco's are '75-'77. In '76 there was a Dodge Monaco and a Dodge Royal Monaco, that particular year the Monaco had hidden headlights just like the Royal Monaco, basically couldn't tell them apart. So if you see a car you're sure is a Royal Monaco because of the hidden headlights, but the script only says Monaco, it might be a '76. And let's say you find a 1974 Monaco but a tree has crushed the back half, you can remove the front clip and fit it on a Royal Monaco perfectly. From the firewall back there is no difference between a 1974 Monaco and a 1977 Royal Monaco (trim etc.), there's quite a few excellent Blumo's out there that are in actuality Royal Monaco's with a '74 clip. But if you're looking for a green Monaco ... hmmm ... lol. Sometimes it seems 80% of the Dodge cars posted here are green, probably not that high but we joke about the amount of green ones we see. Keep checking in, we post lots of 4-door cars, mostly big ol' sedans. Cop cars, too. '74 Monaco is not a common item but we see them, nice one sold on eBay just a few months ago or so.

Steam, I thought about expanding my search to include 75 - 77, but I really like the look of the 74 front end. I figure it would be almost imposssible to find a 74 front end to put on a later model Monaco.
Also, I like the look of the sedan rather than the pillar less hardtop. (I hope I got the styles right). If I found a good hardtop, could it be made to look like the sedan? Is it a true support pillar or a structural piece?
Are the two differences between hardtops and sedans the senter pillar and the back window or are there other diferences?

I figure it would be almost imposssible to find a 74 front end to put on a later model Monaco. The front clip is the same on a 2-door and we do still see nice 1974 2-door Monaco's pop up for sale. You then have to be willing to swap that front end onto a Royal Monaco sedan, effectively reducing the value of the 2-door, but hugely increasing the value of the 4-door Royal. Huge increase in value as a "1974" Blumo. Or, keep an eye out for the tree damaged cars, haha, we posted this one around 9 months ago ... If I found a good hardtop, could it be made to look like the sedan? Yes it can. Here's two hardtop Blumo's with fake B-pillars ... I believe the top one is using a material from an arts and crafts store, it's a prop pillar The bottom Blumo was put together by member Sean Belushi and he was going more permanent with that B-pillar, with some welding even if I'm not mistaken. And as you mentioned the back window is indeed different on the hardtop vs sedan.

Can you tell me the difference between the 74 Monaco and 75 Fury, or Fury's in general? Obviously, the front cap is different, but does it all swap over? What else is different? Thanks!

Other than the hood, roof, and decklid no outside sheet metal is the same. A Monaco's fenders, doors, and quarter panels all have completely different body lines. \\\

The best way to describe it is that the on a Monaco, the body line half way down the doors is more of a crease: While the Fury is more curved: So, as 58hemiury stated, none of the sheet metal on the sides will match up.

Thanks, now I see the difference, and I'm not a Fury fan. Back to the nearly impossible to find 74 Monaco Sedan. BTW that white one is beautiful!
