I was not sure where to put this topic. I chose c body police details because I assume I want my blumo to have "police" horns. Currently my 74 civi Monaco appears to of only had one horn. The wiring on the stock harness only had one wire as well. I have now built the car with only the one horn but it does not sound right. I could have a bad horn or maybe I am expecting a diferent tone like from a high and low set up like a 76 royal would have. Either way I want a horn that sounds like is should when Elwood is honking the horn while driving through a mall. Does any one have any clue as to what horn/s would be correct?
My '75 has two as well. Suggestion: Go to the pick'n'pull and get a pair from a Fox Mustang or an Explorer, or other Fords from the era. They are Fiamm horns made in Italy, they are LOUD and serious sounding, and they are usually in a pair on a single convenient bracket which differs slightly from model to model. Shouldn't be more than 15 bucks.
It seems that the Royals had two horns. The 76 harness I am using in my 74 is wired for 2 horns but my 74 only had one horn. I like AZ's idea of searching horns in the yard, I might do that. Just wondering if there was any knowledge out there that could confirm that a 74 cop car would have only had one horn? Trying to match the movie horn sound might be futile. The horn sould could have easily been dubbed in.
