I also had one of the 73 CHP polaras that are out there. Were the ivory spotlight handles a CHP option in 1973? I notice some have them and some don't.

I also had one of the 73 CHP polaras that are out there. Mine was originally restored by a CHP Officer but not complete, I completed the restoration and used for some years, then passed it on to my friends dad where it gets even more improvements. Absolutely incredible car, thanks for sharing the pics on here. How long ago did you get rid of it?

I'm thinking maybe the ebay car is from another PD and was painted to look like a CHP, is there any way to tell other than the colors and the steering wheel? Anyone see a pic of the trim tag(s) on this one?

Absolutely incredible car, thanks for sharing the pics on here. How long ago did you get rid of it? My understanding would be that is around the time that the black handles started coming out. I can not say if the car is supposed to have the ivory handles or not and I don't know if it says in the CHP speck book. I had the Speck / Parts book from the CHP for the 73 Polara, but sent it along with the car. Interesting booklet that had some interesting facts in it about the car. I sold the Polara to my friends dad 2-3 years back. It was good for me as we all still hang out and go to shows so I see the car all the time. As for the Auction car... It could very well be a CHP Polara, it may have just had a lot of things done to it. The things that I noticed without studying the pics was the motor wrong color, and the dash did not have the cut out for or the CHP switch panel and the split seat. It also could be as someone said, a car made to look like a CHP car from another department. For Example if I recall Nevada had the Ivory steering wheels etc.

Sold for $12,976.96, that's insane money for a car that needs work and has several missing/wrong pieces. Still a cool car but twice as much as I figured for it.

Its amazing there is that much demand for these cars. I wanted to point out that I really like the look of the tires on this car. So many of the tires sold in sizes that fit full sized c bodys look like truck tires. I zoomed in on the ebay add and they look like 235/70R15's.
