"So where does a pushbar go?"
I'd look at it in the aspect of who would be looking for such an item. If someone came here looking for a vintage style pushbar, my guess is that they would likely be a Bluesmobile builder rather than a police car hobby member.
In that light, I would place it under "Bluesmobile Parts".
* The more modern style bars would then go into the "Cop Car Parts" section.

This is how I personally would organize the last list shown...
Bluesmobiles For Sale Bluesmobiles Wanted Bluesmobile Parts C-Body Cars For Sale C-Body Parts Crown Victoria's For Sale Cop Cars For Sale (Non-BluMo's) Cop Car Parts Movie Cars For Sale

It seems that the first step in organizing that area is to figure out where things should go. And then step 2 is to order the list to make this clear.
Let's go back to step 1: Figure out where we want things. What about these c-body parts:
pushbar rubber windshield rear defogger tan padded dash ticket light shortie exterior front door trim fuel access door
I'd propose we'd categorize them as follows: blumo parts: -pushbar rubber -rear defogger -tan padded dash -ticket light -shortie exterior front door trim
c-body parts: -windshield -fuel access door
So the rule would be something like: "blumo parts is for parts found on the blumo (visible in the movie) that weren't found (or not commonly found) on civilian cars"
and then we have
"cop-car parts is for parts (not considered "blumo parts") that weren't found (or not commonly found) on civilian cars."
If we clearly defined what each category was for, I don't think the list order matters much. I think these discussions have been good to bring out ideas, but I don't want to keep pushing the issue if people are happy with what we have. I think our board setup is pretty good, especially compared to how things were on BBC.

Steam, What do you think about the following descriptions? If they don't describe what you're thinking about the categories, let me know what you're thinking, as my guess is off. If they do describe what you're thinking, what do you say about putting those descriptions on the main page?
[ ] Bluesmobiles For Sale Anything B&W representing the Bluesmobile.
[ ] Bluesmobiles Wanted Looking to buy or rent a Bluesmobile?
[ ] Cop Cars For Sale Police package or clones (non-blumo, non-crown vic)
[ ] C-Body Cars For Sale Civilian cars (non-blumo)
[ ] Crown Victoria's For Sale Emphasis on 1988 to 1991 P72's.
[ ] Movie Cars/Clones For Sale
[ ] Bluesmobile Parts buy/sell parts found on the blumo (visible in the movie) that were not commonly found on civilian cars (ex: pushbar rubber, CHP interior door panels, ticket light)
[ ] Cop Car Parts buy/sell parts (not considered "blumo parts") that were found on cop cars and not commonly found on civilian cars (ex: oil pressure gauge, throttle lock, prisoner cage)
[ ] C-Body Parts buy/sell c-body parts (non-blumo, non-cop)

^ I gave Parts For Sale it's own category. To be honest I think the Parts Board descriptions are fairly clear and concise the way they are. Not too busy, aesthetically pleasing. Threads can be moved if need be. I'm liking the changes so far. --- "everything else" could be also "otherwise interesting vehicles" I like "Interesting Vehicles For Sale" as a board.

Fair enough. I think I have a good understanding of the other areas of the board, so I'll focus my admin efforts of answering questions and post moving to those other areas.

I think Bluesmobile Parts might be a good spot for this one. I don't understand how things are categorized in the parts areas, but it seems somehow important to note that these are not bluesmobile screen accurate.

these are not bluesmobile screen accurate. D'oh. How about in Cop Car Parts? I'll go ahead and move it.

D'oh. How about in Cop Car Parts? I'll go ahead and move it. Well, this is the kind of thing that I wanted to work through in the suggestion forum. I don't know what the rules are for categories, so I don't know where it goes, and I don't think TI did either. If we had these categories: [ ] blumo parts buy/sell parts found on the blumo (visible in the movie) that were not commonly found on civilian cars (ex: pushbar rubber, CHP interior door panels, ticket light) [ ] Cop Car Parts buy/sell parts (not considered "blumo parts") that were found on cop cars and not commonly found on civilian cars (ex: oil pressure gauge, throttle lock, prisoner cage) Then yes, cop car parts would be the place for it.

I don't know what the rules are for categories, I don't think we have rules here . I liked your idea of highest category wins the prize, which in this case was Bluesmobile Parts. Had I realized the wheels weren't screen accurate the thread would have gone directly to Cop Car Parts. Which is where it is now so I think it's all good. Oh, except for TI. He's been banned for life. ;D

I liked your idea of highest category wins the prize But without further clarification that would mean a screen accurate headliner (which was in a civilian car, cop car, and blumo) would go in the blumo category. And I don't think we should want that. We haven't specified what goes in each category, so it's still all up in the air (at least for me).

But wouldn't the oil pressure gauge fit into Blumo Parts? Well, keep in mind my proposal, as far as I know, is NOT the official rules of what goes where. But if we were using those rules, regarding the oil pressure gauge, it does not meet the standard of a blumo part, because an oil pressure gauge was never visible in the movie (as far as I know). Now we can hypothesize that one of the movie blumos may have had it, and the hero blumo in the blumo universe would definitely have it, but my thoughts for "blumo parts" was: if its not shown in the movie, the part doesn't go in there. Otherwise it would be a interpretation game and someone could say the hero blumo had a zippered cop headliner and put it in the "blumo part" category, even though it was never shown in the movie. The oil pressure gauge was an option on civilian cars, but it was an unusual option, and mostly associated with cop cars, so the rules above would place it in the cop part category. Now for someone building a blumo, and wanting it to be the way they envision the blumo in their mind (although maybe not on the screen), keeping an eye on the "cop part" category would be a good idea, because there could be a lot of "blumo cool" parts even if they didn't fit the "blumo part" category. Just as keeping an eye on the civilian parts could be helpful, because in my mind, the blumo had 1974 tan plastic interior front seat belt sleeves, and they would be found in the civilian part category.

Hi Steam: I was able to view the board in the old V4 style today, but when I went to make a post, it upgraded my account, and now I see everything in V5 format. I'm still getting used to it. One thing I think should be done is to put a "newest threads" button on the top of the home page. > If you wanted to put Recent Threads up in your Navigation bar > (At the top, like it used to be), you could use /threads/recent > and make a new section for it by going to > Admin -> Forum Settings -> "Navigation" tab > > Then you can call it 'Newest Threads' or whatever you wanted, and > it should show up in your navigation bar. :- ) from support.proboards.com/thread/446806/v5-new-topics-iconI don't have the privileges needed to do Admin -> Forum Settings. Can you do it, or add me the privileges to do it? thanks, arthur

I'm still getting used to it. Yeh I don't like it but I've never been a fan of change for the sake of change. Looks like karma points are a thing of the past, too. No big whoop there but I kinda enjoyed exalting members as their post count rose. It also looks like we can only preview a post once before posting? I'm not sure 'bout that one. Hmmm, I guess it previews as you type. An image shows up immediately instead of having to preview to see it. Meh, just gotta get used to it like you said, Arthur. I'll look into putting the "newest threads" link at the top. I'll have time to screw around with that a bit tonight, hopefully. For now, anyone wanting to see the recent threads or recent posts, those links are at the bottom of the start page ... New smilies. Haha, one of them is puking - What is this? - ---
