Looking around at pics of this year, make and model of cop car you'll notice mostly 4-doors. But here's a great old pic of an Arizona Highway Patrol 2-door ...

Adding to the cool factor are the FBI posters that are included. Notice the top one, JOHN WILLIAM CLOUSER, known as the "Florida Fox" who sounds like a guy you didn't really want to run into ...
He fled to San Francisco, got married, and finally surrendered in 1974.

I personally pulled this heavily documented 1959 Texas Highway Patrol Car out of a barn here in central Texas about two weeks ago. It had sat there over 45 years untouched. This 59 Ford was delivered to the Texas Department of Public Safety on July 15th 1959 as per the Ford Service Policy found in the car. The car was then used by the DPS until it was auctioned off on March 17th 1964 for the sum of $477.79. I hold the original auction statement from the State of Texas selling the car. The DPS Equipment number was unit #691. This number is still present inside both doors. Also found is the original Ford dealer window sticker listing out: Special Police Package, HD Clutch 8cyl engine, overdrive, 60 Amp Alt. Etc.

Described as a sadist who would not hestitate to beat a victim to death, he is an expert pistol shot, exercises and lifts weights regularly and is proficient in judo and karate. John William Clouser escaped from a Florida mental facility on April 2 1964. It was the Florida State Hospital in Chatahoochee, he had been adjudged mentally insane. He held two hospital workers hostage, made them drive to Columbus GA and released them stealing a car there.
A federal warrant issued at Montgomery, Ala., on April 9, 1964, charges Clouser with transporting a stolen car from Georgia to Alabama, where the stolen car was recovered abandoned.
