- The journey continues. Now a classified ad on daBay asking $19,995
Blue lights, sirens, Motorola radios, a wire cage divider and a Smokey Hat. There are also numerous framed photos and movie memorabilia. This car has spent most of its 'retirement' at a collector's museum in Tennessee. The odometer shows only 26,000 miles - not documented, but probably correct. The big Dodge is powered by a 360ci Chrysler engine with power steering and power drum brakes. We don't know if this was a factory Dodge 'police special package', but the motor has a nice cam, pulls hard and puts out a wonderful sound - much like that of a 340 Dart. The engine is backed by Chrysler's 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Paint and original police decals from the movie's production inventory are all in very good condition. The blue vinyl interior is also original and in good condition. For comfort while patrolling, there is A/C and tinted windows.

As you can see Buford does not drive the Sheriff's car in this movie. The Sheriff kinda lost his mind sometime during the chase. He also forgot he had removed some dynamite from the lock-up area at the jail house, and placed the dynamite on the engine when he checked the oil, then closed the hood and forgot about the dynamite and THAT's what explodes coincidentally at the exact same moment he leaves the road (oops, spoiler alert) ...
Make sure to get your own Buford beatin' stick. $25 bucks !
