Hey guys wanted to know since this is the place to figure ou,t how do u remove the rear deck lid in a 1976 royal monaco? Ive been able to pull off the bottom seat part easy. But the back seat part on top eludes me. I may be missing the bolts that are holding it, and if those are removed does the deck lid come off or unbolt. also Is it also made of cardboard or wood. I want to make one so i can install speackers in my car amd not ruin the one thats currently installed. thanks for any help that i cna get

The rear seat back has a couple bolts, on the bottom, and then just lifts off the hangers. From what I have read, the best choice of material to create a new package tray is Masonite. (It can be found at any Home Depot)

Thanks TK - That diagram is interesting; I thought that the seat back had to be removed before the bottom cushion. But it looks like it can be done in any order. DRM19: I think with the seat bottom removed, you're already there with TK's diagram. For fun, I include some of pics of when I removed the rear seat in my Fury. Above: driver side: removing the bolts that attach the seat back to the car. The socket just sneaks between the bottom seat and the seat back. You can put your hand between the seats and feel the bolt head. When the seat-back bolts are removed, the seat back just pulls up and out of the car. TK's diagram shows that the top of the seat backs are held in place by a hanger. Above: passenger side showing where the seat-back bolt attaches to the car. Above: driver side showing the hook system for the lower seat, and where the seat-back bolt attaches to the car. Above: showing the seat-back hangers, and the two main bolts that attach the package tray to the car. To remove the package tray, you might also need to remove many other things. I had to remove the strip between it and the rear window, the two pieces that housed the rear outboard seat belts, and both sail panels. your friend in carefully detaching pieces that have grown together over time, arthur
