I contacted the owner, the rear glass was broken when he bought it and replaced it with plexiglass. Also, no title for the car.

No title, in NY and NJ and I'd assume most states that makes it worthless other than as a parts car, I think he's got the extra zero syndrome going on here.

There's nothing you can do with a bill of sale? I think the DMV could sort it out, getting the title for mine took a little effort but I finally got it.

Illinois makes it not worth your while. You essentially have to put up a cash bond for a vehicle with a bill of sale based off of appraised value, I think 1.5 or 2 times appraised value? As long as the VIN comes back clean, youâll get your money back, but that could take months. If it comes back stolen or something else isnât kosher then your screwed.
Thatâs a lot of money to come up with up front for something to go wrong.

Lots of states don't issue titles for anything over 25 years old. Get a bill of sale and register it in one of those friendly places. I got mine from Vermont for the cost of an annual registration and sales tax, now the car hilariously sports a "Green Mountain State" tag. When that expires, easy to convert into a queaky clean PA title and tag.

- It's been marked as sold at the link, it would appear for the full $5,500 or that's how it looks anyway. Seller did mention price was "FIRM" more than once.
