Brewer's is asking 400$ for the "normal" bb-bells, I'm looking for cheaper ones.
They're selling new lakewoods for about 450.
A newer Quicktime bell would do also.

It might be hard to find one much cheaper than that. I spoke with Jesse at: 1978 Transmission Bellhousing Only Dodge Truck 150 Series 56914 $Call Ram Light Truck Salvage USA-OR(Portland) E-mail 1-800-359-6017 1960 That bellhousing is a "3497272", and they want $350 for it. That's a $50 savings over what Brewer's is asking for the same bellhousing: www.brewersperformance.com/products.asp?cat=278So at least that gives a comparison that Brewers is "within $50 of the ballpark" of pricing. One thing I've heard about, although I've never tried, is putting a "parts wanted" ad on Hemmings: www.hemmings.com/classifieds/partswantedyour friend in finding parts at a good price, arthur

^Thanks for calling. Other company on the car-part thing offered that same np435/445 only bell 275 shipped. They had a working e-mail. Maybe I should give up and make myself understand that I can't find the bellhousing cheap. Or need much luck finding one, but I don't believe in luck. I'll keep searching.

Still haven't found the trans. It should look like that upper one( the long tailshaft b/e-body or truck trans).

Still haven't found the trans. It should look like that upper one( the long tailshaft b/e-body or truck trans). Hi SD: To make sure I understand, you are looking for: A833 transmission, long tailshaft overdrive The b/e had the long-tailshaft version, but they didn't have an overdrive. If I understand correctly, the only long tailshaft overdrive A833 transmission is: > 1975 – 1987 Truck Overdrive > These transmissions had a long tailshaft with dual shifter mounts and > used the large 5.125″ input bearing retainer size. from www.hotrodreference.com/102/mopar-a833-manual-transmission-gear-ratios/from bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=parts&thread=881&post=5924Does that sound correct that the only transmission that you're interested in is: A833 1975 – 1987 Truck Overdrive (and verify that its a long-tailshaft, overdrive). your friend in not finding the wrong thing, arthur

^That "dual shifter mounts" means "b & e shifter mounts" so any long tailshaft will do. (the length is close to 727 so I'm hoping I can use my monaco's driveshaft without mods)
And that 75-up a833 has the fourth gear as overdrive.

^That "dual shifter mounts" means "b & e shifter mounts" so any long tailshaft will do. Not all long tailshafts are overdrives. Here's one with a long tailshaft, but not an overdrive: > 1970 – 1974 High Performance 2.44:1 1.91:1 1.34:1 > 1:1 These transmissions had a long tailshaft with dual shifter > mounts. www.hotrodreference.com/102/mopar-a833-manual-transmission-gear-ratios/And that 75-up a833 has the fourth gear as overdrive. Ahh, right. So you don't want a 5-speed (which didn't exist), you want a 4-speed that happens to have 3rd as 1:1, and 4th as an overdrive. So the only trans you want is this one, right? > 1975 – 1987 Truck Overdrive 3.09:1 1.67:1 1:1 > 0.71:1 These transmissions had a long tailshaft with dual shifter > mounts and used the large 5.125″ input bearing retainer size.

Yes, i ment any long tail od 833 transmission will be ok.
Those newer nv4500/t56 are expensive and require more work when installing. And i've understood that the nv trans weights a lot.

Yes, i ment any long tail od 833 transmission will be ok. Ok, I think I'm figuring it out. An 833 long tail OD transmission only came in 1975 – 1987 Trucks. But people don't talk about "truck" tailshafts. They talk about B/E body tailshafts (even though it came from a truck). So the pic you posted earlier: was from here: www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=100675That specifically references the top transmission as being > B/E body long shaft A-833 OD transmission, cast iron case and doesn't say anything about a truck, even though we know it came from a truck. your friend in slowly but surely getting with the program, arthur

I think the long model od was also availeble in some b-bodies, not sure though. I've googled too much this transmission stuff lately. But: there are also non od truck transmissions, Np435 & np445, both shorter toploaders so they look completely different. A833od with aluminium case would be better, cheaper to ship and easier to lift. I think the alum. case is more common, that pic was only to show what it looks & the difference between the long and short tailshaft.

My friend Charlie used to run 833 OD trans internals in older B/E body 4 speeds, Passon Performance who built the 4 speed in my Fury can build OD units as well. Charlie's trannys were build by S&K speed on Long Island. My friend Dave has a '68 Plymouth Fury wagon with a 3 speed stick in his yard (pedals, Z bar, ect.) if you think you can make it work (which anything can be modified to work, you should see the set up in my '58) PM me and I'll get his info to you.

(which anything can be modified to work, you should see the set up in my.. ) That’s how I usually do stuff. My new, improved plan is to go hydraulic with MB Sprinter’s throwout bearaing setup. That also helps with the space issue(a guy who’s manualized an 78 Chrysler c-body warned me about that, among other stuff) and I’m going to use a separate donor clutch pedal also, because I like that wide brake. I’m also a total moron with shifters(when I write “shifter- I mean the actual shifter and the shifter’s rods), should learn that stuff too... So I don’t know about interchangeability, but I’m looking for a 75-87 truck shifter just to be safe. I’m not sure what happens if one installs an non-od shifter to a od trans, maybe the result is just a stupid gear pattern(3rd & 4th all wrong). But those newer shifters are cheaper than OEM OMG NOS E-B-BODY SHIFTER RARE LOL –stuff. Just have to find one. 68 Fury wagon is a cool car, nicest c-body that year imo. Your friend should build the Fury back for street or sell the whole clutch linkage, pedal, 3-on-three system etc. to some other nut that needs one. Thanks anyway!
