I love this pic ... What a great looking Monaco in a very cool location. Do you ever watch a show called American Restoration? That's what that pic reminds me of. - I will consider selling her if anyone is willing to give me $3,500. That's really fair of you, Jenny, to offer it up for exactly what you paid for it. If you don't get any messages about the car we could always give it it's own 'for sale' thread. Just a thought.

Thank you Arthur Well Jen, I don't have 3500 to throw around, but I'll give you 500 dollars and drive up to swap your 74 front end with my 75 Royal front end... I would love to help, but unfortunatly The front end is what holds/determines the entire value of this car, so I will have to pass! I need to make my money back to put into my Police Monaco. I will keep an eye out for a front clip for ya though. That is definately a sweet ride.I wouldn't mind taking that M47 for a spin as well. It truly is a sweet ride! Just don't take the M47 down the streets of San Diego, they didn't like it much the last time. I love this pic ... What a great looking Monaco in a very cool location. I have not heard of that show I will have to look into it. I don't watch much TV, I don't even have cable! lol! I believe its only fair since I am really not doing much to it. I see the money and time I spent to go get it as an adventure well spent. I had the same thought about starting a thread for it, maybe soon. We will see!

Well, I figured as much, thanks for keeping an eye out. I have an option at the moment, just not too sure about driving half way across the country to get it!

Very cool!!! That car is worth every bit of $3,500; I'm surprised it's not already being loaded into a container bound for Europe.

What an awesome experience that must have been to get that much 'behind the wheel' time in a car like that! I have only driven mine around the block a couple of times and that was a huge thrill. I cant wait to get her painted, registered and on the road. Both of yours are great looking cars!

ok update time. You all know I sold Ol' Blue and with that done, my plan was to get MC2 shipped to me and started. Well some other things came up so the shipping of the car has been delayed for a bit longer. On the bright side I did get to purchase something I needed for my Monaco restoration! I purchased a close to NOS Mars Skybolt Combo bar. These lightbars are rare and extremely hard to find, so I did pay a pretty penny $$$$ but I know an opportunity like this doesn't come around too often, especially for a bar in this condition.

Now I understand why you call it Mars lightbar. Was confused about the candy bar not looking at all like the lightbar.

I offer you a NOS 14o speedo, Cragston the Crap Shooting Monkey, and Hulcher high-speed Saturn 5 launch camera, and anything else bizarre I can throw in. Congrats, Jenny. That's a fantastic piece. ... Mars Skybolt Combo bar. These lightbars are rare and extremely hard to find, Why are these lightbars so rare? Were they only available for CPD and CFD? I think I saw from CCdC or somewhere that this configuration was first seen in 1971? Not sure 'bout that. And by '74 every CPD and CFD had the Mars Skybolt Combo bar?

MC2 is rockin before you even get her. your friend in appreciation of cop part coolness, arthur Thank you arthur, it truly is a beautiful work of art, lots of detail. I have been looking for one of these bars far about as long as I have been looking for a Monaco. Thank you for the offers but I will have to pass, I think you will understand. Why are these lightbars so rare? Were they only available for CPD and CFD? I think I saw from CCdC or somewhere that this configuration was first seen in 1971? Not sure 'bout that. And by '74 every CPD and CFD had the Mars Skybolt Combo bar? These lightbars are rare because not many agencies ran them. No they weren't just available to CPD and CFD they were availble nationwide, but as I stated before they were not ran by lots of agencies. I believe this is due to they debuted too late and Mars was known to be pricey. When the Mars Skybolt combo debuted, their look/style was already outdated and was being replaced with the more modern fully enclosed lightbars such as the Federal Signal Twinsonic. The Federal Signal Twin Beacon Ray which was the first dual beacon light was introduced in 1964, The Twinsonic was introduced in 1967 and was used by most agencies by the 1970's, So Federal signal was King. I believe the reason Chicago ran Mars is because they were being produced locally. It is correct that the first Mars skybolt combo configuration was seen in 1971 and all CPD and CFD had Mars bars by 1974. The city of Chicago was Mars best customer they ran Mars Skybolt Combo bars from 1971 to 1991. Some other police agencies known to have ran them are Cincinnati in Ohio, Collier County and Naples in Florida, Hobbs New mexico and Pima County Arizona. Just to name a few Departments I know of. Mars was also more popular with fire departments than police due to thier lights were very elegant. There are less fire trucks than police cars. Chicago PD used to chop up their Mars lightbars upon retirement and scrap them. Pima County Arizona bulldozed them then tossed them in landfill after they upgraded to Twinsonics. The Mars Light Co. produced many very unique and beautiful lights. Federal Signal Twin beacon Ray Federal Signal Twinsonic
