In this case, this build truly is a Mission from God . The blog they have going is supposed to have updates between now and April 21 about the car they found, "1970 Plymouth Sport Fury four-door sedan." It had to be driven from St. Louis to the church in Moorpark, CA, and the first entry deals with the trip and a couple of breakdowns. - And here it is at the church in California ... - So far I only see that first entry from March 5. There should be an update soon on this church Blumo . moorpark.patch.com/blog_posts/the-blues-mobile-the-transformation#photo-9252185

Not to be overly-critical, but that's the best car they could find? A'79 through '85 Toronado looks more like the Bluesmobile than that car.

Not to be overly-critical, but that's the best car they could find? Not to mention they bought it in St. Louis to drive back to California. Maybe they got it for free. Do a solid for the Church and receive one "Get out of Hell free" card . The big show was today so the final pics should be up soon. There were a couple more teaser pics added recently ... Looks like they painted all 4 doors white ... But got it right when adding the black paint ...

I agree. [If it were me], I would have found a dept. that in fact used the '70 fury and gone that route. Maybe that is a task for the next owner.
If insisting on a BB theme, then yeah, I would have found a more suitable car.

That's a cool looking more door , with the hood bulges and hideaway lights . But not as a blumo .

Why didn't they take the side trim off?

Not to mention they bought it in St. Louis to drive back to California. Maybe they got it for free. Do a solid for the Church and receive one "Get out of Hell free" card . Even so, the gas/towing costs had to have been close to the cost of buying one locally. I agree. [If it were me], I would have found a dept. that in fact used the '70 fury and gone that route. Maybe that is a task for the next owner. If insisting on a BB theme, then yeah, I would have found a more suitable car. I have nothing against using a Fury for a Bluesmobile, but that one just seems like too odd of a fit. I would love to know more about their selection process for this car. Why didn't they take the side trim off? -AZB That makes the least sense of all to me. It's just not... right... to do it that way. I suspect that they're on a time crunch for their project, which is odd given the lengths they went to in order to get this car. You can clearly see that they sanded the top edge of the sides down, but why leave the trim on?

I still haven't seen any actual pictures of the finished project but there are a bunch of videos of the car. Here's a screen cap of the Fury and the lovely Rebecca Kasswell ... From this video ... The channel is for the body shop and here's the link with about 18 or so short videos of the progress ... www.youtube.com/user/NextautoNews/videos
