Hi everyone! Just to introduce myself. I am Todd Huffman with the Fox Fullerton and we are the ones that will be bringing this fine hunk of American, Bluesmobile iron back to life in time to promote our fundraising event for the historic Fox Fullerton Theatre...www.FoxFullerton.org.
I don't not jack s--t about these cars but are surrounding ourselves with some and you all are included. Might need to lean on ya to point us in the right direction on things.
Thanks in advance for helping out!
Best,
Todd

Welcome Todd, and congrats on the purchase of the car! You have come to the best place on the web for info on 74-77 Monacos, Bluesmobiles or otherwise. Please feel free to start a build thread on your car, I'm sure we will all love to follow along. ;D Good luck with your restoration and Blumoification!

Welcome, Todd! We'll do what we can to help; we've put our heads together and tried to categorize and store all the info we can. Your car is a great piece of American history. I'm trying to think about all the questions I had on this car. It is marked as Arco PD, and I believe before that it was a CHP car. From what I can gather, the CHP always painted their cars when they were sold - unless it was to another police department. So they must have sold it to Arco, or to another department that subsequently sold it to Arco. One piece of evidence is this paint job on the rear of the front driver door: The CHP (from what I can gather) always painted the cars number. And they always painted a "4" in that font. I don't know if it was the same guy hand painting it, or if they had a stencil. If you paint the car to make it exactly match the blumo, that's cool. But it's also cool if you left the original CHP paint job. That's rare to find one that hasn't been painted. Certainly try to find and protect / save the build sheet if you can find it. Typical places seem to be under the front seat, under rear seat, under carpet, or on steering column or under dash. It's just cool to help solve some of the questions that come up on what car had what. Here's the thread we had on your car: bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cops&thread=520For a while we thought it had an incorrect steering wheel (for a CHP), but then figured out that it was indeed stock CHP correct. Your car has the same CHP siren mount: that mine does: I have a 1974 Monaco that is ex-Marin County sheriff car, so it has a lot of features in common with CHP cars (because we believe the Marin County order was piggybacked on the larger CHP order). One puzzling thing on your car is it looks like the front bumperettes were removed and installed in the trunk and it looks like they're designed to fit there. Can you verify if they indeed match up in the trunk? Or if it was some type of weird "just happened to be resting there like that" situation. Welcome! We'll probably be asking you just as many questions as you'll be asking us. your friend in helping with questions and answers all the way around, arthur

Howdy All! Hope everyone had a nice memorial day weekend. Thought I would show you some pics after "clean-up" yesterday. Turns out car had ALL door panels and hardware, missing window glass (now installed), missing dash board/speedo molding/trim. Pretty cool! Today the radiator and fuel tank comes out and is taken to the shop while they see if the motor turns. Driveline/Diff shop guys are coming by to inspect to see what they'll need to do and order parts. Have new wheels and tires (General Grabber's) coming. If a paint/interior donor comes through she'll be headed for paint and perhaps interior next week. I need to check with theatre prop makers on the siren for the roof too. Thanks to TK826 we have blumo plates coming! I'll keep ya posted! Todd

Awesome, Todd. Thanks for the updates, what a chore! I love when generous people assist in a Blumo coming alive, kinda warms the cockles of the heart it does. That so many people feel fondly of the Bluesmobile ... love it.
