This is great. Interior is the part of my build that I am dreading, it is last on my list.
Did you have any door panel clips pull loose from the upper cardboard or break odd of the lower plastic? I lost a number on them on the upper panels as the composite cardboard had become wet over the years and basically just tore out when I removed the panel. I am confident I can fix the plastic panels but not sure how to deal with the uppers.

Pulled off the emblem and almost had a good painted logo appearance to it. Thanks for the pic; I'll be investigating that. Trim holes closed up, bodywork roughed in, heading towards primer and final bodywork. Are you saying that you closed up the D O D G E emblem holes on the header panel? Or that when you ground down the studs holding the horizontal trim on the car that there were some holes/low points that you filled in? Such as these studs along the c-pillar: I've had on my to-do list to generate threads on screen accuracy for: - trim / trim studs - emblem / emblem holes - paint scheme And I was going to list header panel emblem holes as open but not filled (D O D G E letters missing). So I don't want you to think that when I create the thread that I'm trying to poke at your car. May I ask, if you are talking about the header panel emblem holes, did you fill them for screen accuracy (and maybe I've missed something in my analysis) or some personal preference? thanks, arthur

I agree with Blusmbl, I am going to fill all holes and remove studs for the same reasons. The PO did a lot of it already on the NC car, all I have to deal with on the MI car is the quarter panels. I would be interested to see the info you have compiled about holes, studs and screen acuracy.

Antenna hole drilled. Ahhh, I get it - you're making a blumo antenna hole! I never thought of making a hole; cool! your friend in appreciation of the details, arthur

I was able to get a decent trunk mat from a junkyard 75-76 Monaco to use as a pattern, mine was dry rotted and missing pieces. I looked on Ebay for a new one but you guys know there isn't much love or demand for C body stuff. I found a 70 Fury convertible trunk mat that looked close, I figured a 2 door car still has a long trunk and it might work and it had the same pattern design. It was close, the length was good but just a little narrow, there are some slices in various locations that don't apply but I was still able to make it work. I cleaned up and trimmed off the lower pieces of the old mat that go down in the fender wells and laid them over the area where the new mat fell short and taped up the back of the mat that had the small slices in it. I left out the padding as it acts like a sponge for water and holds it there until the trunk floor disappears . I used the old mat as a pattern and trimmed it to size, I had not tried this old mat in my trunk because it was brittle and I thought it would be an exact fit, and for the most part it was, but the jack hold down brackets were at different locations. This may be a new subject in the 74 verses 75-77 years if it isn't already. I put back in the pieces I had trimmed out for the jack and taped them on the underside, not really noticeable and the jack sits over it as well. I was also able to get a really nice cardboard taillight panel closeout, I cleaned it up, painted it, and it fit right in. I did add lower mounting tabs for it when I was welding in the trunk floor patches. I like the finished appearance it gives to the trunk and it protects the lights and wire harness as well.

Hi Blusmbl: Are you saying that a stock 1974 trunk does not have mounting tabs for the cardboard closeout. And that a stock 1975-1977 trunk does have mounting tabs for it? That there's actually something different in the sheet metal of the trunk that mates to the 1975-1977 cardboard closeout? And that you duplicated these 1975-1977 mounts in your 1974 trunk? Or are you saying: The stock Monaco trunk sheet metal (1974-1977) is not different with regard to mounts for the 1975-1977 cardboard closeout, but you installed mounting tabs in your trunk so that your closeout is mounted differently than in a stock 1975-1977 trunk. That trunk looks fantastic.

I know the regular 74 Monacos do not have tabs for closeout panels. I am not sure about the Royals, they might because of being a high end optioned car. I believe the panels I got were out of a 76 Royal. I put the tabs in a location based on where the panels fit the best using the factory slots in the panels. I marked the slots on the bottom of the panels through to the trunk and tacked the tabs in to check the fit, once I was happy with it I welded them in. Did Marin or the Fury have closeout panels or tabs? It seems at some time the jack location brackets shifted from about 6" off the left wheel arch in 74 to nearly flush with it in 75-77 but I hadn't paid attention to the parts cars I was getting parts from to document those cars bracket locations.

> I know the regular 74 Monacos do not have tabs for closeout panels. I > am not sure about the Royals, they might because of being a high end > optioned car. The Royal came along in 1975; here is the list of 1974 possibilities: bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=brochure&action=display&thread=683From what I can gather, the cardboard cutout was not on any 1974 Monaco. And it was on every 1975-1977 Monaco: bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=details&action=display&thread=161 > Did Marin or the Fury have closeout panels or tabs? Neither had the panels. The tabs is new information for me. I thought (it seems erroneously) that the trunk sheet metal was the same 1974-1977. My Marin County now has the 1976 parts car trunk flooring, and it sounds like it will have non-1974 stuff (tabs and jack mount location). Good thing I have the Fury that can give its life to provide 1974 info. Can you send a pic of your trunk, showing the tabs you included, attempting to duplicate the factory tabs, and then I'll know what to look for, and I can check the Fury trunk, check my gold car pics, and check Marin County when I visit next. > It seems at some time the jack location brackets shifted from about > 6" off the left wheel arch in 74 to nearly flush with it in 75-77 More good info! > but > I hadn't paid attention to the parts cars I was getting parts from to > document those cars bracket locations. No problem; that's great that you noticed. I can measure Fury vs. Marin (that has trunk from 76 parts car). thanks, arthur
