I got the engine from a 1977 Chrysler New Yorker. It has a date code of '76, though. They're relatively cheap to purchase used, since there's no demand. They seem to sell for around $30.00 with comparable shipping costs, on eBay.

Did you use the small block subframe? Did that lift the engine? I did use the small-block subframe; that wasn't an issue. The transmission needs a little more adjustment and my biggest problem comes from using a high-rise intake. I intend to remedy that in the near-future by swapping it out with a low-rise variant. Other than that, my non-remote mirror arrived, so I won't have to alter my genuine tan cop door panels to be able to use a mirror.

A few pictures of my winter progress; so far, the car's been stripped down and readied for final painting in the summer; my paint guy says that it will adhere better when the temperature is above freezing and he'll paint the car for less then, because it's his slow season. Until its painted, here are a few photo teasers: I love this image because it makes the car look so MEAN! The rear panel dents will be fixed prior to painting.

I picked up a few more interior parts from a demo derby car; a beautiful tan dash, upper and lower door panels, and a nice split-bench front seat. Now I just have to wait for the snow to go away. In the mean time, here are a few interesting items that I intend to use for shows: I'm not sure where to affix this piece; it's only about 1" by 1/2" so I was thinking of sticking it on the dash by the cigarette lighter or in the center of the speedometer and writing the mileage that the oil needs to be changed on it with a sharpie. Any thoughts? I wish I could find more information about the uniforms, but I've had no luck.

Update time: the 440 is now being cleaned and prepped to be lowered into the Monaco, which no longer has a 360. For all of those who wondered, a 440 is a drop-in replacement for a 360 or 400, provided it's at least a '74. Here's a shot of the Monaco's current engine compartment. So...would it be safe to assume that it's the same for a '75 K-package car that came with a 360? I'm going to drop my 440 in mine, and I was just checking to see if you had any issues with yours...did you buy RB mounts/brackets? Rob

Rob I'd call it a safe assumption, since the 440 I dropped in was a '76-build-year from a '77 New Yorker. The only things that stand out as notable are that you will have to re-use the big block motor mounts. I got new bushings from the parts store around the block and had no issue there. The transmission mounts still need a little tweaking and, it's worth mentioning, that my '74 has a different connector for the speedometer drive than the '77 New Yorker did, so I'm going to have to adapt that in summer.

Thanks, LV. My 440 is a '69, and it's going in a '75, so there was probably not a big difference in the K-frame or mount bracket positions in 6 years, which is a good thing. When I put that 440 in my '68 Dart (a 318 car) back in the 80's, I had to turn the small block mounts longways to get them to drop in the 440 bracket holes, after I used a hydraulic jack to 'push' them into place...I drove that car for over 15 years, and never had a problem. Here's a shot of the seats that I will be using for this car: I got them from one of the members of the "WeCrash" site, as well as a beautiful tan dash and the door panels. If someone wants a nice set of tan upper door panels, I'll sell them for cheap.

Tomorrow the car goes off to the paint shop; the new exhaust was put on last week, but the car was off the lift before I had the chance to snap a picture of it. I'll do that when I'm changing out the rear end and getting new tires.
After the paint is done, the interior and push bars will be the last cosmetic hurdle.
