Inner fenders are finally painted! Not sure if im %100 happy with them yet or not... Ill see how they look when they fully dry. I used the same paint as blusmbl, Dupli color DE1635. I got the paint for the core support, but gotta get over to a buddys place with an air compressor, and a paint gun to shoot it on. zac

The inner fenders are looking good, I shot and sanded mine about three times before I was happy, sometimes that paint can blush with the humidity. In my case I ran it twice

yea i gotta shoot them again. I thought i would be good, being the humidity was real low when i shot them, but they still blemished in spots. It took alot of coats to cover the primer, went through 6 cans. Luckily the store had em on sale 2 for $10. I bought out 2 stores lol.
Ill re do em when they fully dry in a few days, and when i can get some more paint!
Thanks jeff! Zac

Got the core support painted up.. Need to finish up a few spots that I missed, But im happy with it. Hoping ill be able to just rattle can the few spots missed. Planning to paint the whole car like this, then weather it. Another view of the inner fenders. The pic is a lil deceiving, they still need some touch ups. zac

The core support was done with a paint gun and compressor.. Good old rustoleum gloss black! Actually im really happy how it turned out. Just need to get the few spots that were missed. The rustoleum sticks to anything. The inner fenders got the rattle can job.. Im happy with the color on these, but its a lil more temp sensitive, and needs a few touch ups where it blemished. Im deff no car painter.. I wouldnt dare touch my truck or anything like that.. But im not affraid of the blumo. If you mess up "woops, I meant to do that!" lol Plus you can always redo it.. Arthur I would deff have the shop do the main coats of paint, but I wouldnt be affraid to do a lil painting or weathering on her.. But then again, youve got a lot of $$ into that car, so you might not want something to go wrong.. The choice is yours... I do like saying I did all the work on mine.. And I can be real nit picky and make sure its done the way I want it... but then again, If i had the financial abilities to have it proffesionally done, Id deff go that route! Let me know when your ready to do the stars.. Maybe we can do a monaco museum of amazement star party! lol zac

Let me know when your ready to do the stars.. Maybe we can do a monaco museum of amazement star party! Yeah! My plan is to have the panel beaters do the white/black paint job. And then I'll take the car, add the stencils, door stars, simulated rust, red primer spot, and airbrushed "monaco" emblems on the fenders. So I myself won't be doing any air compressor painting (other than the airbrush), but I enjoy watching your success. your friend in happy paint stories, arthur

Havnt been doing much.. waiting for the weather to get a bit better, then should be able to have a buddy help weld the fender patch panels on, Then disassemble the front end for cleaning/painting. I did get my power steering cooler sanded and painted. Not fun trying to sand in between all the little fins! Not much, but another thing off the checklist. zac

I dug out my police torsion bars I got from bluzman last year. After really looking them over, they seem to be in much better shape then I thought they were. Just very greasy. Ill take that! The grease saved em from getting all rusty. Heres the cop car they came from I took a scraper to em. Heres with one cleaned with the scraper, and one not touched yet 30 some years of road grime/grease The two of em after the scraper I started to sand on em, but there was still a bunch of grease that was making it difficult. So sprayed them down with some degreaser, and cleaned em up. theres actually some decent paint under all that grease! Also what seems to be some white paint markings on them. I called it a night after that, was starting to get dark. Hope to have em painted tomarrow, ill try and get some pics of em all cleaned up, and see if those were paint marks on them. zac P.s. Sorry for the crummy quality pics of the parts. Been using my phone camera, just a lot easier to deal with then my actual camera. It doesnt do any of the parts justice, ill have to digg the camera out lol

Got em all done. Not sure if these white marks indicate anything? But both bars had them. almost just looks like a dab of white paint from a brush.. all cleaned up Shot them with duplicolor engine primer first, then duplicolor universal gloss black DE1613. Ive got all these shiny parts lying around waiting to go on the car.. gotta get ahold of my buddy to do the fenders, and also get all the rubber for the front end! lol zac

Made a trip up north last week, to visit and grab the newport. Set out 2 weeks ago, the first stop on the map was in GA. Got to meet, hang out and check out jeff (blusmbl) place. Had a great time! What an awesome collectiong of stuff as well to check out! Arthur, it gave your monaco museum of amazement a run for it's money!! haha jk. Jeff is one cool dude! with a great car! Thanks for having us man! Great getting to meet you! Also thank you for the stuff! s922.photobucket.com/albums/ad69/countrybunker/jeff%20meet-rr%20deff/I picked up some parts from jeff. A carter thermoquad carb A rear defrost switch Black knob for the heat-a/c slide switch Jeff was also kind enough to throw in some props for my car. A vintage Budweiser can, along with some chesterfield cigg wrappers never used from the factory. Again Jeff, thanks for having us! Had a great time! Wish I had the car with me, and more time to hang out! Next time around for sure! Got back on the road and drove through the night into OH. Stopped here for a couple days, and attended the mopar nationals. Had a fun time! Was a little wet, but live-able. Not much c body love going on, but still great to see! Charger used in the movie bullit Big block PT cruiser More pic s922.photobucket.com/albums/ad69/countrybunker/mopar%20nationals/I did manage to get one part in the swap meet, a steering wheel for the newprt to replace the cheap aftermarket grant wheel that was in it.

Left the nationals and headed home. Got home, and hung out with family, and freinds for the week. Did an oil change on the newport, along with a bath, and hit a few car shows. Went to woodward thursday night, and got to hang out with arthur, and cathy for a little while. got to see the monaco museum of amazement!! As well as a horn from a ship being blasted off in his house.. Your nieghbors gotta love you man!! haha. It was a great time though. The rest of the time was spent getting the newport ready for the trip home. Had to get some chain and what not, but was pretty straight forward. Had to remove all the front trim for the towbar to work.

Said my goodbye's and headed out friday night. Drove through ohio, and kentucky with no trouble. Everyone was worried how much trouble the car would be on the bar.. But she tracked amazing. No swaying, or bad responses. Only thing I was worried about was the rear end with the 4.10 gears. The driveshaft was disengaged, and didn't get any troulbe from it. The gps was saying we would be home by 3pm saturday. All was good, then I made the mistake of saying "wow this is going a ton better then I thought!". We got into TN early morning saturday. I pulled off on one of the very first stops for gas. Got back on the highway, and the on ramp, and on for 3-5 miles was nothing but straight up hill. The truck was starting to overheat. Pulled off to the side once we reached the top to let her cool. Well this didn't seem to do much. She kept over heating. It got to the point where I would drive up a hill, shut the truck off, coast down the hill and let it cool, then start it back up to drive up the next hill. Made it through TN this way, after a few stops for coolant/water, as the truck was starting to spit it out throught the over flow tank. Got into GA, and pulled off at a rest stop. Figured well, lets sit here for a while, let the truck completely cool, and we will try it again, maybe it wont get hot with no mountains. Waited a couple hours, and this did nothing. We started from dead cold on the temo gauge. Withing 1.5 miles it went straight to hot. This is when i knew I had a big problem. I pulled off, got some tools, and did what I could. Pulled the thermostat, yad yada yada. Called jake up to find out the 4.7 engine are natorious for blowing a head gasket when they get hot. My heart sank "what to do?". Well called a few favors and had the insurance company tow the truck to a friend of a friends place. I told my buddy "well Ive got the newport......" Quickly unhooked the car from the truck, and loaded all I could into the newport. One great thing about the c bodys. They are trucks in car clothing!! lol Tow truck came and grabbed the truck. Now this scared me... The newport has never been more than 30-40 miles from home. She hasnt been in somewhat regualr use in 2-3 years.. shes just been sitting, and when I took her out on her first trip up north when we got there, she did have a hick up that seemed to dissapear. So I was very nervous. Filled her up with gas, checked and added fluids where needed, and fired to mighty big block to life. Set out on the highway. Now this was a complete joe dirt scene. The cars front end was all dissasembled for the tow bar, the trunk wide open with a bungie cord holding it, with a bird cage, and other stuff inside, also not to mention the brown trunk on the white car! haha. We still had 400 miles to go. It took us 8 hours! She made it!! Man was I proud!!! lol. Could not go faster the 50-60mph with the 4.10 gear, had to keep the rpm's down. But she made the trip effortlessly. Saved by the 40 year old big block mopar!! lol Here she is when we got home After the front was put back together The one good thing, the cars are back together!! lol
