They announced Danny will be filming a movie in LA... so hopefully something good will come out of it (the cancellation) in theaters down the road! That's good news, though it's probably not the movie I'm hoping for (BB3, which would probably be direct-to-DVD if it happened at all).

I went to the Amherst, NY, signing last Saturday, and Dan Aykroyd signed the sun visor from my 2000 Grand Marquis. When I went in, the two guys I asked (store employees, I think) were fine with me not buying anything. As I got close to the signing table, a couple of other guys (Crystal Head guys, I think) weren't quite as fine with it. Someone behind me in line then told me, too late, that the cheapest bottle was about ten bucks. (If I had looked at the prices when I first went in, I would have bought one!) I did get my visor signed and shook Dan's hand, but there was a little weirdness (not from Dan) around my not buying a bottle. So my advice to anyone who goes to one of these would be to just buy one. Hopefully you can get one really cheap, and you can be pretty sure he will also sign something else. The only photo I took of the man himself isn't really worth posting, but here's the visor and me with it: Parked outside was a '74 Monaco Blumo -- I just posted two photos of it in the "Bluesmobile Sightings" thread (page 16). The owner, BBC member "westendfireco" (hopefully he will join us on this site), had the dash signed by Dan.

Someone behind me in line then told me, too late, that the cheapest bottle was about ten bucks. Maybe those were the shot glasses that person was talking about? As far as I know there are only two sizes of Crystal Head available, and the small one (750ml) would have been $45 at the cheapest. Unless there's a new tiny skull of vodka for sale? Anyway, definitely some good first hand info! - And that's a pretty cool visor ya got there, Dan-O! Thanks for mentioning us to westendfireco.

They DO offer them in nip bottles... skull shaped of course! I theoretically have one (on the right in the photo below)... I bought one at our signing event in October, along with my large one... but I let me friend take the little one home to drink on grounds he return the bottle to me later! Hmmm, he must drink SLOW..... - Bis

Dan was signing here 1 to 3pm. Downtown LCBO, construction, traffic insanity, buses ... Jesus H. I thought he was going to be at the Rideau Centre LCBO. I find a spot on level 4, get down to the mall LCBO and there is nothing going on there. I was at the wrong store. Dude says to me, Dan is at the King Edward store 5 blocks down, lol. I had time so I walked down and got there around 2:30. First thing I see is a bunch of the Montreal Ghostbusters in the parking lot. Got in and got in line, lots of fans, it took 90 minutes to get to the zone. This is one hour now past Dan's scheduled time to exit. Quite a guy, no apparent ego. I get to the desk, Dan puts out his hand first for a shake, I'm honoured to shake his hand. I mean c'mon ... Jesus H. I ask him politely if he could sign the mag as Dan and the program as Elwood, and he says "I can do that." Heh, so as he's signing the program first I mention that I also attended St. Pius X high school. Which seemed to immediately interest him, and possibly distract him as signatures on both pieces seem the same. Heh, no biggie. Dan asks me if I remember Father Baxter. And anyone who went to Pius remembers Father Baxter, lol, he was tough. In the mag I brought is a picture of Dan with his 1940 Buick. I was a little bit short of words so I just asked him if he still had that Buick. He said yes he does and a wheel fell off of it last week, he tells me a spindle broke. He signs my stuff, puts his hand out again, and says, "What's your name?" I told him my name, we had a second hand shake, and I was on my way to the cashier to pay my $59.95 for da Crystal Head Vodka. Here's some phone pics on the pool table. The band figures on the bottom of the program are silver, they look green from the felt. - Here's a pic from inside the mag with the Buick ... It was a good day.

I was a little bit short of words... Short of words? You're kidding me - you could have asked him where he took those prototype blumo shots, or why the story changed from Fury to Monaco. But I like you're story of the day; it sounds like a winner all the way around. your friend in memories sponsored by the spirit of the blues, arthur

I'm still a bit excited about the whole thing - Thanks, Mr. Mer! The London signing starts at 5pm on a Friday afternoon, but at least it's on the highway side of the city. 2 hour drive for you? Friday September 28 From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM LCBO 3050 Wonderland Road South, London, ON - Here's one last pic that was still in my buddy's phone ... When to drink it? Big birthday next month.
