- Rough looking but still a good find, for us around here anyway . Just the two pics ... Ashby, MA looks to be about an hours drive NW of Boston.

All I need is the 74 front end, and they're all popping up on the other side of the country!

I didn't realize this was a current ad I thought this was the old green one that was in Pennsylvania with no engine a long time ago, I just called the guy and left him a message, the only thing is my Suburban is going in for repairs Saturday and I probably won't see it for a week, so if the guy is cool with me leaving it there I can PayPal him the money or mail him a bank check and I'll pick it up as soon as I get a chance.

I just mailed out a bank check on this one, I'll drive up in 2 weeks and pick it up, it looks pretty rough but there's enough money in parts there that I can see in the photos to make it worth my while. Someday I've got to start putting these damn cars together.

To put everybody's mind at ease who feels like you missed out by not buying this car, this one was my deciding factor to never buy a car sight unseen off of the internet again, I have had luck with $17,000 vehicles but on $800 piece of crap I'm pissed. When I spoke to the owner I asked him does the car roll steer and stop and he said "the brakes don't work" I said "okay what about the parking brake?" he goes "I don't think so, I doubt it" which meant I couldn't use my broker to have a truck driver pick it up, which worked out well because no driver would go through what I went through to get this car loaded. I rigged my Suburban with a double hitch receiver and a 12,000 lb winch and ran cables front to back from the battery and got it all set up for this trip, I rented a U-Haul and went up to get this car. The owner tells me about midweek that he won't be there when I go to get it it's outside the gates of his repair shop and I might want to bring an air tank to air up the tires.I go to get the car and when I first show up none of the doors open except for the left rear, I climb into the car over the seat and I'm looking for keys, there are no keys in the ignition and the steering is cocked slightly to the left and it's sitting on three flat tires. I tried to pump up the tires but they're just old and split and won't even take air, I text the owner and ask him where the keys are, he replies back I never told you there were keys for the car, I said well you insinuated there were, and he said I never told you there were. So there goes the steering part, the right torsion bar looks like it had snapped because the right front wheel is up in the wheel well, there goes the rolling part, I look underneath the car and the transmission is laying on the ground because the center crossmember completely rotted away, the drive shaft is in the car and actually split in half from twisting, I don't know how they did that. I hook my chain to the strut arms because I can't get under the car enough to hook to the control arms, hook my winch to it and start dragging it up on the trailer. Now as the transmission crossmember gets to the trailers cross member it gets hooked, I have to jack the transmission up and drag the car forward to the next cross member and then get underneath and jack the transmission up and so on and so forth until the car is on the trailer where I can strap it down, as I'm doing this the fender to door gaps are getting wider and wider and the left fender is kind of rolling down out as the car just completely deforms itself because it's so rotted. After several hours it's on the trailer. I have a ratcheting strap going from one fender brace under the hood underneath the transmission to the other fender brace so hopefully it doesn't fall out on the highway with the engine and cause an accident, and I was on my way home. 4 hours later when I get home now I got to get this thing off the trailer how am I going to get this transmission that's hanging down resting on the trailer axles off the trailer, I stopped at harbor freight and tried to buy a come along, of course they're out of them, I bought 10,000 lb ratchet straps and was trying to figure out how I'm going to do this when I realized if I jack up the transmission crossmember slip long 2x4s underneath it as the car is dragging back off the trailer the 2x4s should slide along the cross members and support the transmission. So that's what I do. I chained the car to a tree, put my truck in four wheel drive and just pulled away and got it off the trailer, now I have this thing stuck in front of my '74 demolition derby parts car with three flat tires, a seized rear end, and the transmission laying on the ground. On the bright side it has fair-good headlight doors, a solid front bumper with bad chrome, a decent grille, a good header panel, good glass all around without vent windows, a good gas door with all of the letters except for the center D, and good tail lights with the small trim above them. It also has good door panels amazingly. It wasn't a bad deal, it was just a nightmare getting it and the owner was dishonest about the car and almost cost me $475 having a transport guy go to try to pick it up and not be able to.
