- It's done, it's a wrap, in the can, to be released this summer on July 10. The trailer has been up since December, I only just watched it today. I think it looks pretty cool ... - www.ghostbusters.com/- www.imdb.com/title/tt4513678/- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostbusters:_AfterlifeI haven't gotten too deep into it, does anyone know the story about this Ectomobile ? It's not the original Ecto-1, is it ?? They spent a lot of time and money restoring that one, I just don't think they would bring it to Alberta (filming location) to drive the piss out of it in fields etc., but I don't know for sure. Not an Ectomobile expert . I'm wondering if there's some CGI at play here. The movie poster appears to be artwork but the pic in the street ... is that real ? It looks like a HD video game image. Great to hear the Ecto siren again! Dan is one of the executive producers on this movie.

- Just noticed an article at Hemmings that says the Ecto-1 in this new movie is actually the Ecto-1A from Ghostbusters II. www.hemmings.com/blog/2019/12/13/the-ecto-1-hearse-in-the-new-ghostbusters-flick-is-actually-the-once-neglected-ecto-1a/After the 2nd movie it was left to rot in what seems to be a recurring theme with some of the movie cars we've posted here. It went on display at Columbia Pictures (?) with doors unlocked and an open window. Heavily vandalized, souvenirs taken etc.. just brutal. It wasn't long before it looked like this ... And when this next picture was seen by the Ghostbuster fans at "Ghostbuster Fans" they decided to start a petition, got over 12,000 signatures fairly quickly and Columbia thought, "Duh, maybe we're just a bunch of lazy idiots" and the world agreed. Look at this ... Hats off to "Ghostbuster Fans" for starting the petition and undoubtedly saving Ecto-1A from the scrap pile. - ecto-1a.gbfans.com/And now, sporting the original plates which were changed in the 2nd movie, Ecto-1A is a star again! So I reckon then that this is an actual picture and not a still from a HD animated video like it looked like to me lol, it's a real pic ... * Edit - I had blamed Sony Studios for letting Ecto-1A deteriorate but it was Columbia Pictures that produced Ghostbusters II. Sony is involved in this new movie.

I wondered the same thing when I saw the trailer -- is there a real car there? I'm glad there is.
I always thought that Ecto-1 became Ecto-1A (in the story -- not referring to what cars were used for filming). But apparently Ecto-1A was supposed to be an entirely different car from Ecto-1. I never got that impression from GB2, and wrongly assumed that one was refitted to become the other (again, in the story).
As for the pre-Ecto version in the first movie, here's what Wiki says:
