Very cool, Dan-O, thanks for the info. It's so current the gig isn't even listed at their website yet ! - www.downchild.com/I remember back at Blues Central in 2009 we had a thread going for Downchild Blues band and that they were doing a 40th Anniversary concert and Dan Aykroyd was a part of the show. That concert was part of a documentary and I still have never seen it. This was the 2010 trailer for the documentary ... It was apparently released on DVD in 2012 with this as the cover ... - www.imdb.com/title/tt1815703/I don't actually recall being aware at the time of it being available for sale on DVD. It's currently unavailable on Amazon and I can't find it on daBay, and I can't see it anywhere on youtube or Vimeo. It would be a good DVD for the collection. There is a DVD of the concert itself, I believe the date was November 14, 2009. $30 bucks up here in The Great White North ... - www.ebay.com/itm/Downchild-Blues-Band-Live-at-Massey-Hall-DVD-2011-Region-1-NTSC/264117164890But it's the documentary DVD that seems to be more on the rare side. I'll search around a bit more for it, gotta be for sale somewhere.

- I've noticed this vid so far, I'll look around for some more footage and pics later on. The sound is not great in this vid but anytime Elwood walks on stage wailin' on da harp it's a good thing .

Anytime Elwood walks on stage wailin' on da harp it's a good thing . Damn straight! I was there, and it was quite an entrance. He started the show by introducing the band from off-stage, and talking up Rochester. The band did several songs before he came out, the last being "Shotgun Blues." After "Born In Chicago" (in the video) came "Soul Man," "Almost" and "Flip, Flop & Fly" (and the sound was much better in person!).

How many times have you seen Elwood now? I am lucky -- this was the third time I've seen him perform. I also "met" him at a Crystal Head Vodka signing in 2012. The other shows, both with Brother Zee and the Sacred Hearts, were at a casino south of Buffalo in 2008 and at the Paramount on Long Island in 2016 (where they also played in 2013). During this Rochester show, Dan/Elwood announced that he and Downchild would be doing another free show the following night (June 22) at the Toronto Jazz Festival, and I thought about going.
