They say that the hardest part is to find the car. For me it took a little over one year. Here in Europe there are not too often, not too many '74 Monaco's available. I bid one in Germany - I did not won. Missed one bid in Finland. Found one in Italy, really expensive. One was in France and I was too late - again. My collegue searched from Mexico - nice two door sedans available. Then I contacted on friend in L.A. - Find me a Monaco. He found one in L.A. in quite bad shape and I calculated it would have cost me a lot to refurbish it - thanks to taxes for imported parts. I knew that some day I'll find one and after that most likely I'll see them pop'ing up everywhere like mushrooms.
Then I got lucky and spotted "Greenie" in South Dakota. A bit difficult to buy remotely but made it. Then Greenie was shipped all the way to Finland. It was much better shape than expected - actually in a really good shape. Preivious owner had replaced some hoses and kept the car in a good condition. I want to continue that spirit. Quick check, some more air in the tyres, temporary plates on and hit it towards the highway. It ran very smoothly, straight and nicely.
Next step is to look under the car and see what needs to be done.
Ps. I kinda like it green. I think I'll keep it at least a while in green. However, like Kermit the Forgg put it: "Not Easy Bein' Green"!

^ Good stuff, Aero I'm glad Greenie made it across the Ocean without attack by a megalodon shark. They think nothing of attacking ships ... Looking forward to your updates. Members here have often spoken of little surprises they find here and there with their Monaco's, the first day you lift your car and there's a mystery clamp attached ! Looks like it's been there for a long time. Hopefully there are no bad surprises for you, the car looks great.

Looks like you found a very nice, solid car. Persistence pays off!

Some "Shark" bites found. New sheet metal and some welding and the corner start to look as new. As I somehow like the green color and simultaneosly the car want's to be "black and white" - I had a thought. Why not to wrap it as blumo? Any experiences? Got some selection of the material. Most prominent is the second one on the right. Not fully matt, but some gloss. Definetiley not the carbon black... or maybe ... ?

Why not to wrap it as blumo? We've seen a golf cart wrapped as a Blumo ... Lol . I thought someone had done a full-size Bluesmobile wrap but I can't find any reference to that at the moment. Only this golf cart which is indeed real yet strange at the same time. I guess with a wrap you could get all the graphics and letters exactly perfect before printing. How much would such a thing cost?

Wrapping is intresting option. They said that durability is really good - several years and printing the graphics is possible. It will take quite much material and work would last about one week. Cost, on rough level, is around 2000-3000 euros. (Here everything is expensive). Painting would start from 3000 euros. I red about stencils, which seems to be hard to get. Does anyone know the font or text sizes? The star dimensions seems to be mystery as well. Good side pictures on ready made Blumo would help as well.

- Members have bought stencils from TK826 and everyone seems very happy with them. In particular "TO SERVE AND PROTECT" which is based exactly on the close-up when the Bluesmobile pulls up to the Orphanage ... 1920 x 1080 i.ibb.co/2vp1qY4/bluesmobile01.jpgFor the side shot there's this pic here ... 1920 x 1080 i.ibb.co/1bVQPB4/bluesmobile02.jpgWhat you're looking for is that image but Elwood has been removed leaving a nice clear side shot of the Bluesmobile. Once again that was done extremely well by TK826. I can't seem to find that image right now, with Elwood removed. Someone else used TK's work and added a border and some text and stuff but credit where credit is due and it was TK's work that others have copied. Try an image search and slowly scroll through all the way, that pic is out there with Elwood removed. Does anyone have it handy to attach here? As big a size as possible if'n ya do. I can't find it in my saved pics for some dang reason. Other side pics I have in smaller versions are from the Triple Rock ... And Ray's ...

I'm pretty sure I still have the no Elwood picture and I'm probably the one that made the motivational poster you're thinking of years ago.

Like I said on the sales thread, I saw this one last night next to my home. Almost went to take a close look, but then I thought that some people don't like morons wearing black hoodies lurking at their parking lots around 23:30.

I saw this one last night next to my home. What an incredible coincidence. A blue sedan and a green sedan that had both been posted on these forums are now next door neighbours in Finland. And if the VIN's are sequential the apocalypse is nigh.

If you are too busy to build Blumo, you are just too Busy. Weeks have passed outside carage in business and driving. I’ll get a lot ”thumbs up” in the traffic. I’ll guess ”greenie” sticks out from modern wind tunnel engineered vehicles ... I hope I’ll get back soon on the sticker / painting design.

Of course during winter the car need to be washed more often. Especially from the under.
