We're all familiar with the '74 unit with its 14o lettering style and subsequent years using the 140 style instead. It also seems that at some point between '74 and '77 they added two additional warning lights for "CATALYST" and "CHECK EGR" to the unit. The one that's presently up on eBay shows these nicely and I've never seen these before. CATALYST light: CHECK EGR light: Does anyone have a '75 speedometer handy that they can check for these two lights? I want to figure out the year they were added.

The CATALYST and EGR indicator were not present in 74, and were present in the 75-77 speedo, as you show in the pics above. I posted part numbers and pics of various speedos on BBC, so I'm hoping to lay low and wait for BBC to come back on-line before I manually recreate the info here. If I remember correctly, the high beam indicator changed from a dash to a circle also. your friend in speedo excitement, arthur

Quick question, if I do ever come across the "holy grail" of speedos, what needs to be changed gear wise to make sure the needle actually lines up properly with the new speedo face? I'm assuming some gears somewhere need to be swapped out due to the different spacing between numbers.

I'm assuming some gears somewhere need to be swapped out due to the different spacing between numbers. All that "logic" is internal to the speedo (the magnetism of the bell is setup so that the needle points at the right place). > ...they adjusted the magnetism of the bell differently for different > speedos (info at that same link above). Something else the car came with and if I had a working scanner I would post on here is a paper in an envelope with the owners manual in the glove box that is the factory Chrysler speedometer certification. I never knew that a "certified" speedometer came with a certification paper. It took owning 6 retired police cars to find that out. Adam

58HF discovered in his 1975 Fury that cop cars came with a speedo certification paper: > ...a paper in an envelope with the owners manual in the glove box that > is the factory Chrysler speedometer certification. I'll get a pic of some sort soon, I have a ton of stuff that came with the car to go through. I didn't even get a really good look or read the paper myself, the guy who sold me the car pulled it out and I took a quick look at it and then continued loading parts.

Ok, searched out the papers that came with the car this morning before work (almost made myself late) and found the speedometer certification, I'll post pics tonight.
