I knew I'd seen this one somewhere before. I guess the craigslist ad posted in Illinois threw me off...

I guess the craigslist ad posted in Illinois threw me off... It happens The '74 in BC has been listed at craigslist Vancouver, Toronto, Chicago and Los Angeles. Since we're on a new page here may as well bring the links over. Here it is at CarsOnline ... www.cars-on-line.com/56399.htmlAnd craigslist Chicago ... chicago.craigslist.org/sox/cto/2861547289.html- - Great looking Blumo but the $14,000 price is indeed nuts.

I'm 99% positive this auction will end early, if it doesn't get in the 5 figure range.
Just for comparison, the person who painted this car Black and White bought it for $1,900.

The only thing about this car that I like to see is that the perceived market for Bluesmobiles seems to be fairly lucrative. It's a nice way to justify my spending.

Technically an eBay policy violation.
Using other peoples time to fish for a market price and avoiding seller fees by not placing a reserve.

It did have bids last time, it's just they were all cancelled and the auction was closed shortly before it was scheduled to end, using the excuse... "no longer available".
The last auction did not have a reserve price and it seemed obvious (to me) that it was closed because the bids were not reaching the 14,000 dollar mark and the seller got scared that they would have to sell it at the cars actual value.
My mystical crystal ball says that it yet again will not sell.

I was giving the benefit of the doubt the first time he made that claim: thewhiting.com/tickets/production.aspx?performanceNumber=4111(bottom of the page) I had thought perhaps it was just a miscommunication on the writers part. But this now confirms that the new owner is in fact a BS'er. The two worst aspects of this hobby are those who claim their car is an original and those who buy cheap cars and try to flip them for crazy money, without doing a thing to them. This guy is both rolled into one. * I never even mentioned that when I had previously asked him some completely friendly questions about the car, I got back what is probably the rudest, one sentence email that I have ever received.

Hey guy's.... Alright I had some time on my hands.... lol. I emailed the writer of the story on the Mlive website (2 posts above) Explaining to him that this car is not a movie car... Here is our emails (I got some names mixed up) (mine is on the bottom) Hi Zac, Ryan Garza is just the name of the photographer who took the picture. Robert Reigle is actually the owner's name. If you (and other folks who could verify what you told me) could leave a comment on the story, that would bring it to my editor's attention and allow me to further investigate the story. Just remember to state facts and not to personally attack Mr. Reigle. Thank you for the tip. I just stumbled accross one of your articles. Fenton military vehicle collector turns hobby into international business. In the article, you quote that the bluesmobile Ryan Garza owns, is infact a screen used movie car for the movie the bluesbrothers. I would like to call this out. I am part of a little bluesmobile club. The car talked about it the article is infact a members old car, that was sold to Ryan Garza. Here is links to the build thread of the car, here you can see the car being built from what it was, up to its current state. bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=owners&action=display&thread=238&page=1The car was sold back in september of last year for $8000, and has resurfaced for sale for an asking price of $14000. Here is the for sale thread for the car, for you to see. It starts all the way back in september of 2011. bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cars&action=display&thread=282&page=1I dont mean to waste your time, however I just wanted to call this guy out. There is no cars left from the movie, and it bugs me to see a guy trying to claim a fan built car as a movie used car, when he knows completely that it was never used in the movie. The current owner has had the car up on ebay several times with no reserve, with a buy it now of $14000. Since the bidding has gotten no where near $14000, he ends the auction early, and puts it back on within a week. This however is against ebays guidlines. Again, don't want to waste your time with something like this, I just wanted to call this scumbag out! Thank you -zac So If you can (or would like to) email jeremy the writer of the story, please do.. jallen42@mlive.com
