Hey everyone, hope everyone is well, and that their cars are running great. My name is Joe. I'm a professional Elwood Tribute Artist with my own Blues Brothers Rythym and Blues Review in Naples, Florida, and I haven't posted to the forum since September 2016, when I bought my Blumo from Greenjacket (Allan) on this forum. I'm happy to say that after almost a year and a half's worth of hard work, and with my own two hands, I finally have a completely movie - accurate Blumo that's totally restored and damn near perfect in every way. First thing I did was start by removing all of the rust that was on the car, which wasn't much, then moved on to correcting all of the little paint flaws, mechanical flaws inside and outside the car, and replaced a lot of components under the hood. Got every single component and accessory working again as Factory fresh, including the trunk light and clock. Next, I detailed the living hell out of the interior, installed new carpet, new AC condenser, (yeah, the ac works great!) new door and trunk seals all around, installed the 140 mph speedo, fixed the radio, and countless other fixes that I did just because I'm a super perfectionist! I then went on to construct my own custom roof speaker that actually works by combining many different methods that I read about here on this forum. I eliminated the need for any kind of excess wiring by using a jumbo sized wireless Bluetooth speaker hidden within the roof speaker. The love I've had for this car since I was a kid, hasn't changed one bit after all these years, and I can happily say that I love driving this car everywhere, especially dressed as Elwood when I'm on my way to a gig with my band, and I've got Sam and Dave's Soothe Me, playing on my eight track. The euphoric feeling is absolutely incomparable to anything else. I just wanted to check in with you guys, and become a regular poster here on this forum. Hell, I feel like I know all of you already, since I've been a long time visitor to this site. You guys are some of the most knowledgeable fellas that I've ever had the pleasure of reading your technical posts! I want to say a heartfelt "thank you" to every member of this site, for their contribution and knowledge of these cars. Bluzman Steve saved my ass with his knowledge many times over the last year and a half since I've been restoring my car. I look forward to conversing with you guys, and getting to know you better. I'll try to post some pics of my Blumo here, along with some pics of my Jake partner and band. Joe

Great post, welcome back and congratulations! Only one question, what about the cigarette lighter? ;-)

Hey Bismo, what's up brother! I have the original cigarette lighter, and had to fix the wiring that powers it, but it works perfect now. When I take the car to my Blues Brothers shows, or just a car show, I'm always mindful to take out the lighter, and put it in my pocket. It's for 2 reasons that I do that: #1: it's more movie accurate that way without the lighter in the dash, and #2: when I first got the car, I took her to a local car show, which I'm no stranger to, since I own several famous movie cars that Ive restored throughout the years. I've never had anyone mess with any of my cars at any car show until I took my Blumo out that day. Anyways: this jerkoff, loud and obnoxious old coot walks up to my car when he thought nobody was looking, and actually had the balls to reach into my car, and grabs the cigarette lighter out of the dash, which I stupidly left in that day. (I now also make sure to roll up the windows, too!) He tried to walk off with my lighter! I stop the guy cold, got in his path to block him and said: "You got some freakin balls, my friend. Hand it over, now." Needless to say, I got my lighter back after he said he ....."just wanted a souvenir." Sometimes people at car shows can be disrespectful scumbags. Didn't want to write a novel about this, but just thought I would share with you guys about this incident that happened to me because some people think that they're entitled to take stuff that isn't theirs. That's one of the reasons I'm super vigilant, and never leave any of my cars out of my line of sight when I take them out. If I'm doing an indoor show, I always recruit one of my friends to be a security guard, and stay with the car at all times. What kind of rubs me the wrong way sometimes: is when people walk up to myself in the Blumo, and ask me if it's the Andy Griffith cop car or the Roscoe - mobile from the Dukes of Hazzard. Hell, I even had one guy ask if it was one of the original Smokey and the Bandit police cars! Have any of you guys ever had your Blumo mistaken for one of those other cars? Surprisingly, after 37 years, there are still some people that haven't seen the Blues Brothers, and have no clue what the car is!

- Hey Joe, thanks for this great update! Your Blumo is super clean, gorgeous interior, you've obviously done the detailing thing before Looking forward to more stories and pics. Hopefully not stories like stolen lighters and stuff, how could the guy not see you? Lol. But for sure something I've noticed over the last decade or so, from Blues Central to Proboards, is that there is indeed a strong fan base for the Blues Brothers in the state of Florida. Talk to ya later!

Great photos, she's a beaut! I haven't had any problems like that but I've only rarely taken ours to a car show, we use it more for our music. I DID stop taking it to Touch A Truck days, which is a shame since nothing more fun than kids climbing through Blumos LOL... but just too many LITTLE annoyances to deal with.
Or cigarette lighter sits in Fritz's (my "Jake") trophy case at his house, about 90 miles from me and the Bluesmobile....
Keep the Faith!

The car looks superb inside and out, better than the movie cars by a bunch. I like to think of these Blumos as the way the car looked when Elwood picked it up last spring at the Mount Prospect police auction.

Bismo I didn't realize that you're a fellow Elwood Tribute artist! Where are you based out of? Do you have any pics of your group and you? How big is your band? Do you have the classic BB lineup of tenor sax, trombone, and trumpet in your horn section?

Now I know you have a beautiful Blumo you just recently built, but do you have a real 58 Fury as well? You own Christine? She'll be my next car to add to the collection! Always loved the sexy lines on Christine, especially in the red paint and two toned interior.
