Ignition switch advice?
The chrome outer part (thumb grip?) of the ignition switch goes out of line with the key slot so the key either won't go in or won't come out. I have also pulled the key out with the accessory power still on a few times, like something is loose or doesn't line up inside as well. Can the switch be tightened up?
I have thought about replacing it, but I don't want separate keys for the ignition and locks or have to replace all the locks in the truck. But if I absolutely NEED to replace it, can one be set to my key?

If you get a new ignition switch a locksmith can code it to match your door keys or code your door cylinders to match the new switch's key, it's not that expensive and only takes a few minutes after the cylinder is removed from the car.

Finally got the Dual Snorkel air cleaner all restored! Had it sandblasted to get all the rust and old paint off. Painted it with Duplicolor Hemi-Orange, perfect match. The vacuum pods all work so I got new hoses for them. I scanned and recreated the maintenance sticker. My truck moves noticeably more effortless with that planted on the Thermoquad. I'd say if you don't have one on your 440 yet, you should get one!

'at's the stuff. Now I'm chasing a potential crack in the exhaust manifold and my hood release cable just split open...

A tragedy has occurred... A fiiine gentleman went straight from an inside turn lane and clipped me. Got an appointment to get an estimate on Monday though. Hopefully I can get the dent pulled and get a new bumper and grille.

When will this madness end? Broke my clock and messed up all my gauges. Insulation fell out of the dash. Almost tore my bumper off, can't find another one like it anywhere. This time a drunk hit and run. Hit me doing 40 while I was stopped at a light. His plates came back to a different truck and the plate owner denies involvement. I think they switched plates personally, but I don't know who to tell that to. Should I call the denier's insurance back and ask them to drive by and check? I don't think the police are too interested since there wasn't an injury. One officer told me when they get around to it, someone will see the plates don't match and that might interest an investigation, but the priorities are low because of the riots.

Got into the suspension a couple months back, and Wow. The control arm bushings had started to walk themselves into the actual control arms about an inch. Finally got a new control arm and the threads for the ball joint are all stripped out. Probably gonna need to weld it.
I'm finally putting dual exhaust on the truck, it was originally a Flowmaster 50 under there, but working in an auto-parts store let me do some comparisons, and I've found that the Dynomax Super Turbos sound better. Not too different, but a little less tinny, a little more bass. I'll try out my 2 Flowmasters on the Bluesmobile when I get to it, but I'll probably end up going with Dynomax.
Fixed my secondary fuel tank. Had to make my own sending unit, works great. 100 amp alternator in the truck and nothing has burned down. I've been fixing up all the bodywork and getting ready to paint it. I've decided on Hemi Orange, sticking with antique white on the roof and floodline. Not sure if the wheels would look best white or orange. I'm thinking of entering a classic car contest at work since everyone seems to like the truck.
I found a 100 amp police alternator and bracket for my Bluesmobile. Rebuilt the alternator at work on my lunch, threw it on the tester and passed 3 times in a row. Still looking for a 74 front clip. I got a bumper and grille from the Pick n Pull Monaco. I'm kicking myself for not getting those fenders. I probably could have fixed them up in retrospect. Still have my royal clip to trade.

It was a great run, 30,000 miles in the 6 years I owned my truck. Had 'er runnin' like a top. Made my own dual exhaust, did all the body work, had her ready for paint... On my way home from buying a 60 gallon compressor to finally paint and I hit something slick in the rain. Wrapped her around a pole. Really quite lucky to be alive. All of the pain is emotional, I really loved that truck. Hopefully I can find some donors at pick n pull, but I think she may sit for a few years...

Not the way I wanted to see this thread go. Sorry to see that flc, glad you're OK. A donor truck will come along to move everything over to, if you should decide to go in that direction. But for now, stashing it away is the best move.
