Bought this '77 a few days ago..Should be delivered Saturday. Currently, it's dressed like a Taxi. I'll be looking high and low for a '74 front clip. It came from the factory with a 2bbl 360, but now has a 4bbl 318. I just got done swapping a modern 6.1 Hemi into a 70 Road Runner enjoyed the power and fuel injection so I'm gonna do the same with this car. This Blumo will receive a 2016 392 Hemi..Still deciding on what transmission..Gotta have overdrive. Looks to be a solid start..I'll update with more pics and info after I get it home.

They should still have the grill and headlight doors, I got the l/fender, header, and headlamp mount panels from this car.

How did you find the swap to modern running gear? What exactly was needed?

Haven't started on the Monaco yet..But the Road Runner has a lot of aftermarket support so it's not too hard to do. Found the engine and wiring harness on eBay. Doing the same swap on the Monaco will be alot more difficult cuz there is no aftermarket support for a hemi swap in a c body. So, there will be lots of trial and error. The 392 going in the Monaco is from a friend's wrecked car.

I will be watching your progress on this build. I have some ideas for my bluemo but not sure what way to go yet, maybe a stroked 400 or later hemi. Its currently a 360.

On its way home..Gotta take the front clip off first thing. Should move pretty fast, until I hit the headlight buckets and bezels..Lol.

I cant wait to see how this turns out. I've never really been happy with my 440. At some point it needs to come out for a complete redo but who knows a modern hemi may be an option. I think your biggest challenge is going to be the transmission tunnel. Not a lot of room in there for an overdrive trans. The 727 is long and skinny, all the OD trans I looked at have a much bigger diameter.

Options are few unless u wanna cut the tunnel. What I'm considering that will fit is a A518 (was in Dakotas and Durangos), GM 4L60E (which is actually the best fit and the bellhousing is removable to put on a Mopar bellhousing.), Or go manual with a TKO 5 speed. I'm prolly going with the 4L60E and running 3.91 gears, 4 link coilovers.

Pulled all the carpet up and the floor looks new..Only a little surface rust on the driver side under the pedals. Pulling the front clip off tomorrow...Should have my 74 clip on soon. Gonna post lots of pics. Then it will be painted. After that, Hemi swap begins.

the main difference between the 727 and the overdrive in the tailhousing and the rear of the case were the tailhousing mounts. its bigger there because that's the overdrive part verses just the tailshaft. But if I remember correctly, the overdrive unit is the same on the smaller version I call the 904 overdrive, thus running into the same tunnel issue.

Good idea. I was thinking about putting a new hemi in also. I decided to just go with a 440. But its not in yet so I could always change my mind.
