Is it just me? Or does this commercial have a Blues Brothers twist?
Or is it just that any Police chase in Chicago will always make me think Blues Brothers? Little nuggets like "hay look a farmers market" get me. I absolutely love it. I'm a huge Brothers fan, obviously, and believe it or not, I'm a Prius fan. As a hybrid repair tech, my daily driver is an 05 Prius. This almost makes me want to Blumo a Prius!

^ Definitely a Blues Brothers vibe there. Especially the moment just before the farmer's market line, that riff of music, has a real Blues Brothers feel to it Bits of it must have been intentional like paying homage, but maybe you're right, Spanks, our brains are programmed now to think of the Blues Brothers movie whenever we see the City of Chicago in the media, haha. Absolutely for sure when there's cop cars around ...

- There's actually a pretty solid connection to The Blues Brothers. I've just read that the stunt co-ordinator for this commercial was Lance Gilbert. Lance is the son of Mickey Gilbert who is old-school stunts and is known as Robert Redford's double, in particular the stunts in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and was the stunt co-ordinator on such films as The Frisco Kid. So perhaps for those very examples he became known as "Kidd" Gilbert and he was one of the top stunt performers for all the big scenes in The Blues Brothers. Mickey is one of The Hollywood War Babies! Mickey became the stunt co-ordinator on The Fall Guy and that's where Lance started his career. So Lance would have heard plenty about filming The Blues Brothers from his dad. Pipe ramps, cannon rolls, filming in Chicago etc., unlimited awesome stories from the people who were right there in it. Pretty cool. I'm not 100% certain if Mickey is still alive, he received the Lifetime Action Achievement Award at ActionFest, April 2012. But I do figure for sure it's a nod to the movie from Lance Gilbert and also to his dad and Donno and Huff and the gang who probably drank beer in his house when he was growing up Mickey was part of the crew that designed The Fall Guy jump truck. The engine was moved back in that truck, just amazing how it could jump, bounce, then keep going ... and it was real. I have an old mag somewhere, Mickey said sure we broke some stuff along the way but the truck could do repeated huge jumps. Mickey said one time he went 9 feet high and 90 feet out, bounce and return to the camera only to find out the main camera had jammed. No problem, roll camera again and the truck did it again 9 feet high 90 feet long. Flat landing, bounce ... that was great stuff!
