Just recently started on MeTV, first season ('77-'78) And so far their '75 Monacos with California TwinSonics are playing heavily into almost every episode. 2-3 year old California cars are pretty nice, and being real cop cars, they handle well with little body roll. 5pm mountain, and if you can handle the sometimes hokey stories, the cars on the freeways/chase scenes are worth the price of admission. ^ Great show! Pretty well guaranteed a car chase or pile-up every episode This vid shows a '75 slowing down traffic. Couple of B-bodies in here, too ...

I don't know where you find that stuff Steam, but that was the one. With the vented dog dishes, it was obviously a retired police car. I see you also found the infamous green '69 GTO ramp car, dozens of things flew off the back of that thing and rolled over in the first 4 seasons. Big early '70s American sedans were always getting jumped, flipped, and otherwise totaled, but the series particularly hated '67-'68 Cougars and '68-'69 Javelins. Whenever you saw a first gen Cougar, it was certain to be rolled off of a 50 foot cliff, on fire half of the time. With Javelins, it was traffic accidents, rollovers, and jumping a small pile of crashed sedans - clearing at least 15 feet - and landing in a "catch car". Oh, the humanity. Other popular sacrifices to the stunt gods were '69-'70 Mustang coupes and fastbacks, '67-'69 Firebirds, Ponch's various '75-ish Trans Ams, and any '70-'77 Fairlane/Torino/Montego variants.

I don't know where you find that stuff Steam, but that was the one. Those pics came from the Internet Movie Car Database. Those folks there are quite adept at uploading cool screen grabs. A great youtube source for stunt clips from CHiPs is from "TVSTUNTER UK" ... An awesome and growing collection of chase and crash clips. Recent uploads are from Season 3 ... ^ I think that was Rex Blackwell doing the bike stuff. Watch Bonnie wheel the big ol' Dodge around ... There's quite a few clips with 75's bootin' around. I'll try to find it but there was a highway chase and the Monaco changed from a C-body to a B-body and back to a C-body again, haha. See a lot of that stuff from those shows. Dukes, too, would see Rosco's car change in mid chase.

I'll try to find it but there was a highway chase and the Monaco changed from a C-body to a B-body and back to a C-body again Here it is ... this clip is hilarious. Not for the continuity blip with the insert shot but for the driver they're trying to stop. I have no idea what is up with him but the facial expressions are too funny! Some good screen time for a '75 here ... So the bike jumps from the clip one post up were definitely Rex Blackwell. He did the two "Supercycle" episodes. Here's a chase from the first Supercycle episode in season 2 with a small bit of Elwood type driving going on with da big ol' Monaco squad. It's all just wonderful stuff, lol ... Rex was one of the jumpers of that time for sure. Nobody else ever got the attention that Evel got but guys like Rex still made a bunch of dough and were always booked to do a jump at a Speedway somewhere. Even the pros can misjudge, though. I think of Gary Wells missing his landing ramp at Caesars Palace. Butch Laswell missed his landing ramp (wind) in Nevada and was killed. And I don't know if this was wind but Rex misses his landing ramp in this jump from the same episode as above ... What you didn't see ... ^ That pic and a bio of Rex if anyone is interested ... www.cyclejumpers.com/rexblackwell.htmlThe big CHiPs website ... chips-tv.com/

Me TV showed the last episode last night, it was just as bad as most of season 6, but it was the only episode to feature the new first year '82 Mustang CHP special service interceptor, a cool looking little squad back in the day. Tonight, they showed the first episode, so it looks like they are starting it over. So if you missed any of the '75 Monaco action, you're in luck.

- I've been watching out for Season 1 on DVD. Last month I got Season 1 of The A-Team and Season 1 of Knight Rider for $10 bucks each. WalMart eh, they make their own copies in the back. I have yet to see CHiPs for sale there. Season 3 is just being released this month.

- I guess this has been news for a couple of months now but I just found out today ... they are making a "CHiPs" movie. Another in a long list of TV shows becoming a movie. It will star Dax Shepard (Jon) and Michael Pena (Ponch). More pics here ... www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/632133-photos-from-the-set-of-the-chips-remake#/slide/1No great details yet on the plot but I did read it will involve stolen exotic cars. There's an entry at the IMDb ... www.imdb.com/title/tt0493405/So, they've made movies of The A-Team, Charlie's Angels, Dukes of Hazzard etc. etc. I suppose big screen versions of Knight Rider and The Fall Guy aren't far behind.

- Jesus H., just watched the trailer for the new movie, they didn't stay loyal to the spelling ... The movie looks to be geared towards ... ? I don't know ... it's very sad what they've done Warner doesn't even bother to use all caps in their official youtube title, it's just, Chips, even though it's all caps on the poster and in the trailer. In the description they spell it Chips again but next sentence it's, "Warner Bros. Pictures’ action comedy “CHiPs.”" < Well no it's not, you've called it CHIPS. Bah ... screw the spelling it's a freaking disgrace what I watched there in that trailer, just my opinion.

- The Horror. The Horror. An exciting sequence, the stunt gal earning her money that day. Then ... crash. A beautiful burgundy 1974 (or '75?) Monaco sedan gold interior in a head-on crash. Look at the A-pillar, a spotlight hole ! Good Lord they had to wreck an actual squad for that crash ? And it was a crash test dummy at the wheel. For the coup de grâce they slam another car into her in a flying T-bone but hang on now. In the first pic the hood and front end are quite crumpled then ... miraculously healed ? They wrecked TWO Monaco sedans for this one crash ?? ^ Savages. Action is from December 18, 1981 season 5 episode 12 "Mitchell & Woods." This episode was actually an attempt to create a spin-off series but it did not happen.
