Same here.... lol Although, I can't quit completely.. Been using the ecig. Can still smoke, but without all the harmfull crap. Its turned into another hobby actually, collecting all the diff ecig stuff. I have an ecig used it very little after quitting. I had pneumonia, best way to quit, I couldn't smoke for over a week anyway so I said screw it, now's the time. But does the ecig kill your ability to smell or make that taste of shit to your mouth? Smoked about 20 years now and I know I can quit when the anxiety ends. That's most likely the day I die. Nice looking project, but wouldn't it be easier just burn the woodgrain off?

Nice looking project, but wouldn't it be easier just burn the woodgrain off? I'm using a heat gun but the vinyl is all cracked from age so only a small piece at a time comes off. It has also been on the fender for 40 years which makes it a little more difficult.

I got the right fender in epoxy primer and high build on the areas that needed it today, I also put a muffler on the car today so the noise level is a little more tolerable. I still have my dings and dent.

Well I found a dead cylinder today, that's why the rough running. It must have had a stuck valve from sitting because the number 2 cylinder intake push rod was bent in a "J". I ordered one for tomorrow.

I ordered one for tomorrow. Make sure that valve is freed up before installing the new push rod. I had one like that on an old Jeep 304, I went through a handful of pushrods until I got it freed up. I ended up gently tapping each valve stem with a ball peen hammer. You can feel the hammer bounce off the valve / spring if its free, the stuck ones will just be solid.

Thanks but I already bounced the ball peen off of the valve last night after I got the push rod out, I had a built 360 I put in my '57 years ago and when I went to fire it up it did the same thing, then I put a new push rod in and it popped a hole in the rocker before I figured out to whack the valve with a hammer first.

I put in the new push rod,set the timming, and half ass set the carb by ear and it's running smooth but seems gutless out on the road, were these 360's that choked down with emissions or do I still have something wrong?

180 horse power (tops) stock small block in a 4,000ibs car don't really go together for blessed acceleration. However what it does not give you in speed, it makes up for in mpg's. Should have no problem getting 20mpg out on the open road. Mine used to get a little over 20 on the highway. However the power got old.

I'd run a compression check to see how healthy/tired it really is.

I set the timing at full advance, tweeked it at idle and set the air/fuel mixture on the carb with a vacuum gauge and had the car running much better until it ran out of gas. The gas gauge is not working and I cannot see the needle on the gauge so it appears that the needle fell off of the gauge. I also got further on the right fender and I'm getting close to edging the fenders and putting the nose on. I'm still waiting on a front bumper but the yard located it and packaged it, I'm just waiting on the shipping cost. I will need a right parking light lens, they're both missing. No new pics to post because very little has cosmetically changed.

Update; it was the fuel pump, I didn't run out of gas. The nose is about 10 minutes of work away from primer on the left fender and header and then installation and I still don't have a front bumper but according to the yard that has it, it was wrapped and ready to ship 2 weeks ago, they haven't gotten me a shipping quote yet.
