The next step was to sand, grind, and wire wheel the whole inside of the Rot Box and give it a nice thick coat of POR-15. Then I made a couple of small patch panels to cover up the rot holes and seal them off. The usual pattern board transferred to 18 gauge steel method. Then tacked them in place. Up next: Wrap your ass in glass! -AZB

Oh man I have the exact same 'hell hole' as you on the driver side. I haven't cut into that side yet to get a proper view yet.

Rob,
I got it from Eastwood through Ebay. 10 bucks cheaper that way than the local auto paint stores.

All 'glassed up. Passenger side: Repaired area in and behind the water dam, there were holes in both front and rear of the dam where debris was lodged. Driver side: The Hell Hole: I put a layer of fiberglass on the floor at both ends of the rot box, followed by an extra coat of resin after the first application over the glass mat had cured. I had to do two "touch up" 'glassings to catch missed holes, then I applied 3M seam sealer caulking to the front seam and to the inside upper rear seams. Next step will be another coat of POR-15, and then the water test. -AZB

The water test: Dry as a bone inside the car with a gallon dumped down each side and in the middle. Here we can see sitting water in the driver side 1/2 hour later, which explains why the rot box floor in that area gets pitted, and why waterproofing the area is a good idea. -AZB

OK, where were we? I needed to get a few items from Desert Valley Auto Parts, of Desert Car Kings cable TV fame, and real convenient to have them some 30 miles away. From this New Yorker: I got the A/C hoses and the right front wheel for a spare, and I would have taken the trans cooler lines too if they weren't chopped and replaced with rubber. So I need to source those elsewhere. This car is going to be featured in the new 2017 release Transformers movie, part of which was filmed at this yard. In fact, you can see the coming attraction on YouTube with Mark Wahlberg running down one of the rows of cars toward that "AUTO" sign you see in this pic. The script called for a couple of driveable cars, so this was one of them, and the doors and rear bumper had to come off, which is why they are on the ground next to the car. I might see the movie just to spot this Chrysler. But the main car I came for was this '76-ish Chrysler wagon. A 440 car with a towing package, I figured it's got the biggest torsion bars and front sway bar that they put in any of these '74-'77 C-barges, and that might be right - my small block bars are .99 inch, these are 1.06 - same as police. The original sway bar is .93 inch, the wagon bar is 1.00 inch. This car should handle pretty well, I would think/hope. Pictured after approximately one metric crap-ton of grease and baked-on crap was removed: This is the number on the ends of the 1.06 bars:

Cool stuff! I had purchased front wheel wells from DVAP after mine were stolen last year. Wish I lived closer to a big yard like that with rust free cars, everything in the Midwest is all rusted out.

That looks like an awesome yard to scrounge in...good score on the torsion bars! Rob

Nice score!
For the life of me I couldn't any a-hole from DVAP to return an email or a phone call, so I took my business elsewhere.
Your wagon suspension should be the same HD stuff as the police cars. The front sway bar I took off a K-code Royal Monaco is a 1" diameter as well. I'll have to check the torsion bars, but I imagine the part numbers are the same.

I just looked at the torsion bars again, and found that each end of each bar has a different number, so here they all are: Why, I haven't a clue, but the R and L are likely right and left.
