Here's a blurb from the 2012 Mopar Collector's Guide magazine, which shows that Steele Rubber is producing door weatherstripping for 1976 c-body 4-door sedans:



Looking through their web-site, it looks like this is the kit:

Plymouth Grand Fury, Dodge Monaco, and Chrysler 4dr sedan - Basic Kit

Front door weatherstrip - 70-3393-72 - 1 pr.
Rear door weatherstrip - 70-3394-72 - 1 pr.
Weatherstrip, decklid 18ft - 70-2124-84 - 1 ea.
Total Savings when these items purchased as a kit...$27.70

90-2157-90.....$ 249.50/set

They seem to have mismarked the rear kit to only apply to 76-77.

front door kit: 70-3393-72 applies to 1974-1977
rear door kit: 70-3394-72 applies to 1976-1977


At first, I thought it might be just good karma after all my bad luck with Restoration Specialties, but then I wondered what the odds were that they just added 1974-1977 c-body 4-door sedan door weatherstripping unrelated to the samples I sent in to Restoration?

And then looking at their web-site, what are the odds that both they and Restoration Specialties would independently offer beltline weatherstripping for a New Yorker. Maybe Restoration Specialties sent off my weatherstripping to Steele and Steele was the cause of the delays. It's not an excuse for the poor service I received (and Restoration losing my parts), but it might help explain what's going on. I sent Steele an e-mail and will keep you posted with an update. There might be some happy news at the end of this ordeal after all!

My door weatherstripping is becoming famous. Here's a blurb from March 2012 Mopar Muscle:

I called Steele and had a great chat with Hank (product specialist) and Eddie (Product Development).

Steele is big into extruded products (such as door weatherstripping). They produced their Monaco Sedan weatherstripping unrelated to Restoration Specialties receiving mine (Steele got their sample from another source). Restoration is big into beltline weatherstripping, and also does some extruded stuff. They send out their extruded work (but not to Steele). Steele sells beltline weatherstripping manufactured by Restoration (to provide a convenience to the customer to get all the parts in one place), but Steele's door weatherstripping is all produced in-house.

They were interested in my statements about the applicable years for their products. Here's a summary of what I said over the phone:

It is my understanding that:
(1) 1974-1977 Monaco c-body 4-door sedans all have the same doors (door are interchangeable between the years).
(2) 1974-1977 Fury c-body 4-door sedans all have the same doors (door are interchangeable between the years).
(3) 1974-1977 Monaco c-body 4-door sedan doors are not interchangeable with Fury c-body 4-door sedan doors, but the weatherstripping is.

So I would expect the
front door kit: 70-3393-72 to apply to 1974-1977
rear door kit: 70-3394-72 to apply to 1974-1977

Yet I find from searches on your web-site

that you have the years listed associated like this:

front door kit: 70-3393-72 applies to 1974-1977
rear door kit: 70-3394-72 applies to 1976-1977

Is there a reason that your rear door kit doesn't apply to 1974-1975 models?

And the answer was that their sample set was for a 1976. They saw a different part number for door weatherstripping for rear doors for 1974-1975 and weren't sure that it would fit those years, so they didn't list it for those years. I'm going to send them my 1974 set (my original samples that I got back from Restoration Specialties) and they'll check them out against their 1976 set and see if its an exact match (or a close-enough match). Just see what's going on.

These are the part numbers that I get from the catalogs:

front
1974-1976 3759 434-5
1977 3875 660-1

rear
1974-1975 3759 436-7
1976-1977 3875 662-3

I don't know why they think their 1976 front set will fit a 1977 (when that has a different part number), when they are being careful to say that a 1976 rear set may not fit a 1974-1975.

I see I put the answer in another thread:

I sent in samples from my 1974 Fury, and they matched them up, and apparently there's only one white clip on the front door weatherstripping that's in a slightly different place. But the mopar parts catalog shows the same part number for 1974 and 1976 front door. Steele said that it was close enough that they'll list the set for the entire 1974-1977 range. So you can give them a call, and you'll be sure to get a door weatherstripping set that will work.

I highly recommend Steele; they were a pleasure to work with.
And... if you need beltline weatherstripping, and can't get it from Steele (they also sell Restoration Specialties parts such as beltline weatherstripping - in order to provide for one-stop-shopping), and you can't get it from Restoration Specialties, let me know, and I'll contact Steele and see if they can do something with my samples, and I'll send them in to them.

Hmm, I purchased a pair of front door seals for my 75 monaco, drivers side fitted well, passengers was 3 inches too long so I had to cut and splice it. Not worth sending back from the u.k. I also inquired a few days ago ref the rear seals but was told they do not sell them.

Yes, 74-77 front door pair. I have a feeling the passengers side may just be a one off dud one. I didn't feel it was worth the hassle calling them and sending it back. I started at the rear top corner of the door frame and went anti-clockwise round, all trim clip holes lined up but when it came to the rear of the window frame there was a few inches 'spare'.

The rears maybe due to them not updating the catalog. I hadn't read this thread at that point either!!

Reading over the weatherstripping lengths on rear doors...I bought some parts from a Chrysler Newport and discovered the ( C-pillars) are different. This might account for the longer length on Steele's part. Apparently all "formals" are not the same at least in the rear door.

My car is a '75 with vent windows... Anyone know where I can get the odd plastic sliding piece that attaches to the front edge of the glass, and it guides the glass up as it pushes against the vent window frame? It's a moderately soft piece of clear/white plastic channel that looks like it was made from the same stuff as soda straws. Mine are broken and the wind noise is making me crazy since my Bluesmobile is still my daily driver.

Does anyone have a good source for window run channel. I found some last year but it is a little to wide and doesn't fit nicely in the window channels. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Tony
