> It's a 74 Dodge Monaco Police Pursuit guide for the "CHP". > It covers everything that was unique for these vehicles along with > P/N's and description of the features. Wow, that's freakin' awesome, 58HF! We've figured out a lot of what's unique to cop cars, and to the CHP, but I can already see that this has tons of information to help correct/clarify our understandings! What a gold mine!

I'm getting a vibe that it is not a book actually from 1974.
I'm not basing the feeling on anything specific, but I sure would like to see the page that contains the Publisher/copyright/ date/ printing information.

I'm not basing the feeling on anything specific, but I sure would like to see the page that contains the Publisher/copyright/ date/ printing information. Here's a Q/A on e-bay: Q: Can you provide information on the publisher / copyright date? Was it actually originally printed in 1973/1974? Or is it a newer book attempting to capture the information? Was it published by mopar, and you got it during your service career? Apr-14-13 A: This was actually published by Chrysler (Dodge) back in 73/74. I don't know the date because there isn't one but I can assure you it's not a copy. I remember buying this at a swap meet that was held at the Chrysler Training Center located in Center Line, MI back in 1985. They used to have a MOPAR car show and swap meet there every year. Please let me know if you need additional information. ----------- That answer sounds reasonable to me. The only candidates for originally printing the book would be Mopar or the CHP, and it seems more likely that Mopar would print it. And they wouldn't have much of a need to start printing it years after all the cars were retired.

I find that explanation a little odd; if it's printed by Chrysler, why would it have the CHP logo on the cover instead of "By Chrysler for the CHP." You see part of the Chrysler logo on the second page, though. It's interesting, though I'd be skeptical, as it's odd that it's a 1974-specific piece. I can see both sides of that; 1974 was a new year for the Monaco, and had significant changes, but why not "1974 and up" or the likes?

If it was originally printed in 73/74, I don't think it would make sense to say "74 and up", because they wouldn't know what would change in the future. We know that the speedo and steering wheel part numbers changed in 1975. If it was originally printed years after 1974, it would have been nice if they had all the CHP information for 1974 and 1975 in one book, but my guess is that there's a different book for 1975.

Very cool!!!! I wasn't bidding because I didn't want to screw anyone on the forum or drive the price up, I'm glad I didn't.

Very cool!!!! I wasn't bidding because I didn't want to screw anyone on the forum or drive the price up, I'm glad I didn't. Thanks, 58HF. I have mixed feelings about the whole e-bay auctioning thing. I don't want to try and create a conspiracy to keep the prices down, as the seller deserves a fair price for his nice item. On the other hand, it doesn't make much sense for us all to bid against ourselves on every item. I think we talked a bit about this on the Craig S601 thread. For documentation, I've put copies of all the Mopar documentation I've got here: Occasionally I hear from folks that it's a good reference site, and I'm very much for info sharing. For this CHP book, I don't know if I'll scan the book and put it there. It doesn't seem to have any eye-popping new pieces of information that we haven't already determined. I may just keep it on display in the Monaco Museum of Amazement. I want to keep a few special items there. But even if I don't scan it, I'll put something in the police details forum if the book points to something new (just like we have for the CHP siren bracket). your friend in mopar learning, arthur

I think it deserves an owner like you who owns a '74 Monaco Police package, if it was for a '75 Gran Fury (which the CHP never used but just for example), I'd be after it.

If it's a Craig S601, we all want one, and we'd all be good homes for it. But for something specific like this, it makes sense that the owner of the specific vehicle would be an obvious "best" candidate for it. Here's to good homes for cool finds, arthur

I won it. I'm meeting the seller week after next to pick it up and talk about car stuff. Should be fun! I knew you would be bidding on it, I also held back from bidding,so not to raise the price! Glad to know it made it to a great home where it will be appreciated, there is no better home for that than with you!
