Lake Shore Drive that is. If you've studied the Blues Brothers for any length of time I'm sure that you have come across sources claiming that filming took place on Lake Shore Dr. Such as this from 1979: There was also the Chicago Tribune articles, from 2010... Even Roger Ebert's 1980 review of the film mentions Lake Shore Drive: I can only imagine that the LSD scene was to be shown just after the 23rd Street scene. We see the Bluesmobile turn onto the ramp that enters Lake Shore Drive, but the scene quickly cuts to Lower Wacker. My guess is that this scene is one of the many that was tossed in the trash by Universal, never to be seen. Until now... I recently came across 15 images from behind the scenes of the BB's. I cleaned them up a bit, arranged them in order, and then combined and constructed an animated .gif from the individual images. The Lake Shore Drive Chase:

Maybe they cut it out for continuity reasons , as most of these cars are newer models and are not scene in the rest of the movie .

The sad truth is that there are no deleted scenes to recover. Landis has stated that, when they decided to create the extended version of the film, it was discovered that the studio had tossed everything in the dumpster. The official word is that what is shown on the extended DVD is all that exists.

Could it be that those 15 images you found were of a publicity stunt for the movie? What with all those different late-model cars and all...I can't see Landis making that big of a credibility/continuity jump by even filming a scene with obviously never-to-be-be-seen-again cars...not to mention the mix of non-Mopar makes ("non-paid product endorsement", anyone?)... ...not to mention the mix of non-Mopar makes... There were some Chevys seen in the movie, outside the Palace Hotel and on the 23rd Street Bridge, at least... but the ones in these images are later models, and there's even a Malibu and a Ford LTD II or Fairmont. Maybe these were in-service CPD cars at the time, as opposed to the retired cars purchased for the movie?

they have this on film somewhere. BLUES BROTHERS, Y U NO HAVE DELETED SCENES? Here's some info: Basically some idiot at Universal threw out the extra footage back in the 1980's. The footage is lost, the only reason why they found extra footage for the 1998 DVD was because someone found an old preview reel containing an extra 22 minutes. The 2005 release is the same as the 1998 version, but it's higher quality. The actual footage is identical. The only chance we'll ever get to see the lost footage is if someone locates a copy of the original print, probably from the Picwood Theatre. That was the only time the entire film (with the extra scenes and intermission) was shown. www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/topic/6300-more-missing-scenes-from-the-1st-bb-film/#entry87296--------------- Well, we know the second verse of "Rawhide" was filmed because there's a tantalizingly brief snippet of it in the original theatrical trailer (included on the DVD). The trailer also includes a line of dialogue from Curtis that didn't make it into the film. www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/topic/3586-deleted-scenes/#entry41449--------------- I remember John Landis saying once that only about half of the final car chase made it into the movie, which suggests that this was filmed and is part of the destroyed footage. But I haven't been able to find any photographs of this, or even any behind the scenes pictures showing the cars speeding down a street that we've never seen before. www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/topic/6300-more-missing-scenes-from-the-1st-bb-film/#entry87296Back while the movie was being filmed, the Chicago Tribune reported that there were various car chases filmed along Lake Shore Drive. I've been up and down that drive many times and don't recall seeing any of that drive in the movie. I could be wrong though.....anyone else have any idea? www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/topic/3586-deleted-scenes/#entry41989And now TK found it!

Cool stuff, TK. Frustrating and sad as well. What a waste for that extra footage to be tossed away. Ah well ... we shall worship the .gif

What I'm going to do, is recreate this whole scene in Maya. I'll use google maps and this image to piece together LSD as close as I can to 1979 and make some Chevy models and convert a few 74's to 76's. Then use some sirens and motor sounds to fill in the silence. >:{D This scene will live on. Now would this be the official camera angle? or would they have been filming from the helicopter? (Location: im thinking it looks like it would be here assuming thats lake michigan in the background 41.881317,-87.617499 although it would be going in the wrong direction assuming after the roadblock they turned north onto lake shore. this would mean they were driving south back toward 23rd street bridge. or here 41.872848,-87.617153 If instead of a lake it was an open field. This would make more sense to the direction of the chase, but I suspect we're looking at the lake in the back because i don't see any trees or buildings there and i dont think this field is big enough to hide any of that. or here 41.931814,-87.631942 There's water on both sides and It's in the right direction and the street curves slightly, plus there's little pull over zones which might be what this is, rather than an intersection Any hints?) [ps. those are coordinates for google maps]

Here's a pic of the bridge jump scene: from www.theybrokemywatch.com/page_meandboys.htmlAnd I would expect that those CPD cars would be actual in-service cars, and not prop cars blocking the road. Do any of the cars in the LSD sequence match the cars above?

[ps. those are coordinates for google maps] Here are the google pics for the three coordinates you list: My guess is that the blumo is traveling south, and it's Lake Michigan in the background. It looks like the area marked could be a fence next to the lake. Google street view can take you to the running track between the road and the lake: Maybe that fence in the blumo pic something like the fence in the pic above. If that is Lake Michigan in the background, what's the blurry spot on the right side of the blumo pic above? Boat? Water inlet tower?
