The back of the glove box door Oh, wow, cool. Such a rare item might make your blumo glove box a high-value target for theft. Or victim of a classic mopar dash electric fire?

Maybe around the time of the shows at Universal backing up Steve Martin? Wherever they're from I like 'em. Dash looks frigging amazing, too!

s1355.photobucket.com/user/Bill_Paden/library/?sort=3&page=1I got the car back today from the blasters and got started on the sheet metal work on the doors. The metal is in great shape however over the years poor repairs will need to be redone. The holes you see were drilled and bondo pushed into them filling in old dents and creases. The process now will be to weld them all shut grind them down and apply new filler. This is a tricky process as I dont want to make the body super straight just a little beat up and weathered. The sheetmetal work will all be done to last,I just want the car to appear old.The goal is to have all the bolt on parts in epoxy primer in two weeks, set aside then start on the main body

I notice that your 12o speedometer is faded. I have a spare 12o unit with beautiful numbers on it, if you're interested. I also have a complete 100 MPH cluster with extra indicator lights. I won't be using them on my car, so let me know if you're interested.

This is going faster than planned. Now that's a good update! Bill, for this pic: you commented: > It was a shame to drill holes in such nice metal but that is how hack > body men do it Are you saying that previously in the life of the Monaco, that the door had a dent, and that the solution used by the body guys at the time was to drill holes in the door and pull out the dent with a slide-hammer. And then they just patched over the holes (not welded them). And that your current body guys cleaned out the patch, and welded the holes closed. And that the best solution for such a dent is to use something like this: > Stud Welder - Is used by welding a stud (nail) to the dented > panel. A slide hammer that usually comes with the stud welder is > then used to pull the dent out. The stud can then be twisted off > with pliers and the area ground smooth. This method prevents > you from having to weld up the holes created using a normal > slide hammer. www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/BodyWork.htmlYou can tell I'm not a body man. But I enjoy learning - and watching a nice blumo build in progress. thanks, arthur

Yes ,you are correct the car was poorly repaired years ago and the old work needed redone. All the work is being done by me at my shop so that makes it even more fun, and I can move at my own pace
