- So photobucket wants $399 a year to release our pics. I have several albums, to pay the ransom on say 3 albums would be $1,200 a year, every year, and I won't be doing that. I figured the free storage would end, but didn't think they'd hold our pics hostage. Strange PR move. Anyway, for now there's many hundreds of broken image links here at this site. Billions of pics being held for ransom all over the internet. meh ... ^ i65.tinypic.com/b7j1br.jpg ^

Yeah Steamo, PB is now basically ransomware, for all intents and purposes; like you, I'll be damned if I'll pay them to release my photos.
I understand that Imgur hosting is still free, as well as if one uses a dedicated album on a Facebook account; I'm not sure what it would take (cost-wise) to switch to another forum platform, where the photos could be hosted 'internally', so to speak (I use the Fedora Lounge forum a lot, too, and that's the type they have set up (http://www.thefedoralounge.com)...I'm guessing more server space and bandwidth?

My Photobucket still works, but that's because I have been a paying member there since about 2013. I have their basic service at 25 bucks a year, but I think that will end when my current year runs out - then I'll get the dreaded email from them with their generous offer of 400 bucks a year to hotlink. At that point, I'll switch to Fotki, 25 bucks/yr and they are actively seeking pissed Photobucket users. I have already downloaded all of my albums from pee-bucket, so I'm ready to go whenever.
This is about the worst business decision I've ever heard of in all of netland.

I managed to get three of my seven albums out - so far. If I lose anything, I'm gonna be pissed...

Wow, this Photobucket thing has really fucked up this forum and I'm sure all of the others, what a scumbag thing for them to do. I hope they go bankrupt and the company collapses so maybe another internet company can buy them for next to nothing and put things back the way they were.

Yup. I'm sooooo pissed at this! I've got over 10 years worth of pics floating about different forums of little guides etc and overnight everything gone! This is the worst news to hit the NET worldwide for years. Yes I hope the go out of business but it doesn't help us right now. Maybe someone will come up with a host that could use existing links to make a transition easy??? Be it legit or not So sorry guys any pics of mine I won't be rehosting just yet as no time to sh1t lately.

Ima gonna try Imgur, as I've heard some good things about them; I'm still wary, though...once bitten, twice shy. Rob

- I'm holding my breath at the moment BUT ... it looks like all photobucket pics have been restored. Great news for this site that's for sure, considering the vast amount of archived car pics and stuff we have posted here with photobucket, but I'm still holding my breath. I haven't checked yet but my guess is that if one wants to continue uploading to the bucket and then sharing the pics on forums then you'll have to pay, which is fair. They never should have screwed us all they way they did. So for now ...

Is there a limit or something I haven't reached yet? I'm not sure, you'll probably be getting a notice in your e-mail within the next couple of weeks. The jerk who decided to turn off all picture links last year, and then hold our pics hostage for $400, well he's gone. The new guy, Ted Leonard, is the one who turned all the links back on and the new prices are way more affordable ... They'll still be charging more if we want to use third-party hosting, which is basically posting our pics on forums like this ... What I don't know at this time is if let's say I don't pay a cent and don't upload anymore using photobucket, will all my pics be turned off again? I'm not sure about that yet but here's the story I got the above numbers from ... - www.denverpost.com/2018/05/17/photobucket-image-hosting-plans/

- Looks like problems with photobucket again, for anyone looking at older threads the pics are all broken. It's not another ransom move, some sort of glitch or maybe a good ol' hacking in progress. ^ "issues" since 11:26 AM EDT
