Also, I stoked because I worked a deal with Zac to relieve him of his extra passenger fender and wheel house/inner fender...that's one fender I won't have to perform any bodywork magic on! That's great news, on the car part front, and on Country's great blumo appearance at the car show. We miss you up here, Country! But it's good to know that you have good blumo friends down there too.

Well, I decided to tackle the rusted cowl issue, since it's easier on the brain to change-up my methods to keep the resto 'fresh'...I was getting burned out on the 440. I decided to make a patch-panel quilt to fix the issue, or at least solidify the area, and keep it from rusting any worse (in my lifetime, anyway). I drew up a pattern on paper, after taking some measurements; after some fine-tuning, I transferred it to to some old sheet metal I have lying around... I then cut it out with my angle grinder, and proceeded to use the welding skills I DON'T have to tack in on... I cut and added a few more panels to fill the gaps....again, crappy welding skilz... And hit it all with some heavy-duty rusty metal primer. I'm still not some with it yet, but the rains run me back in the house, so I'll finish and fine-tune the patch this weekend...pics of that to come. Whilst i was doing all of this, I noticed a cryptic number 'rusted' into the firewall...hmmm...could this be Huey's build/ownership numbering system? Rob

Good seeing you to Rob!! Had a good time shooting the s#it that night! Hopefully do it again soon!
The cowl looks a lot better then it did! Coming along great!
Thanks arthur! Miss you guys to! Hopefully I'll be up there again sometime this year, I'll have to link up with you, and chris sometime.
Deff nice to see rob. Not many mopar folk around here as we were talking about the other night. Rob, you still have the 58/7? fury? Id love to see that thing sometime! I forgot to ask at the show... lol

Yeah, I've still got her, Zac, but she's looking pretty sad right now...she's taken a far back seat in terms of resto priority. I use it to store Monaco parts, almost like she's 'ingested' them, lol. She's sitting there on jack stands, silently facing the Blumo, empty headlight buckets staring into the distance like dusty and forlorn skull eyesockets. I swear, when I'm working on the Blumo late in the evenings, sometimes I believe I can hear her whispering low behind me, saying things like "Roland LeBay wouldn't treat me this way," and, "If Arnie finds out, he's gonna have me run you down late one night...just you wait." I'm tellin' ya, it creeps me the frig out, buddy.... Rob ;D

A few more pics; I actually got this done about a week ago, but the summer rains have come again, so I'm working between showers... I used 3M Strip-Caulk to seal the crappy weld seams...that stuff it cool! I also cleaned and repainted to firewall, along with the fender support rods, the power brake booster and master cylinder. The patch ain't pretty, but most of it is hidden by the fender, anyway; the important thing is, it's out of the continual water exposure that caused it to rust so badly in the first place. From this... To this... I know it's not a 'permanent' solution, but it will probably work for my lifetime...if not, buying a donor car in future might be my next option, but since this is a cop car, I wanna keep as much of it original as possible. *** I've begun resto work on the radiator support, using 2 to make 1 good one, and should have some photos to upload tomorrow. You guys are nutz! ;D And thanks for the encouragement; it goes a long way in getting to the final product, when you have input from your Blumo peers. Rob

I've begun resto work on the radiator support, using 2 to make 1 good one... The spirit of the blues loves car part recycling! Great to see it coming together, Ghost.

I need to learn how to weld to. I bought a used MIG welder. Just need to practice.

Not a lot happening down here, what with the marathon rainy season we've had lately. I did manage to completely paint my trans (this pic isn't the latest), replace all the seals, o-rings and filter kit. Now, it's ready to bolt to the 440, once I get a break.

I also managed to get the radiator support primed and painted.... Gotta fix the mounting biscuit and bolt hole on this side.... ....as well as a 4" hole in the bottom edge, as seen in the bottom pic below (the support is dirty in these pics)... But it turned out alright, all-in-all.... Rob

Interesting note....there seems to be a difference in the hood latches, between '74 and '75 models (as well as the mounting bracket): Although I'm using the '74 radiator support in my car (the '75 was rusted beyond saving), I opted to use the '75 latch, just to be sure it works on my car (the cable hookup seems to be easier, too) Rob
