Wow, it's been a while. No fun pictures to post but here's a small update. I got the block cleaned and bored .030 over. I have a set of Kieth Black 237 pistons and got some sealed power crankshaft and connecting rod seals. I also just ordered a Sealed Power piston ring set, E424K30. I have plans for the Memorial Day weekend but hopefully I can at least start assembling the block up to the crankshaft, which I still need to decide on. I'm going to be reusing the connecting rods and crankshaft. Is there anything anyone here would thinks I need to do before assembling? I didn't have anything but the block professionally cleaned. Do I need to do anything special with the crank and connecting rods, or is a good cleaning with dome alcohol and rags good enough? I sold the 360 out of my Monaco so she's just sitting in the driveway waiting for a new powerplant. Also, how do you go about removing the old pistons from the connecting rods? I took a look and didn't see anything obvious like the snap rings on the KB's. Hopefully once this is done the only major things left will be a new camshaft, head work, and getting the transmission I have rebuilt!

Thanks Steam! I actually just had a buddy with a press at his work remove them for me. I just ordered ARP replacement bolts for the connecting rods and main caps. Now I just need to figure out what grease to use for installing them and hopefully by the end of next week I can have the crank and pistons installed and move on to the next step...

Just built my 440 with those 237 Keith black pistons. I went cast on the crank (under 500 horsepower a cast crank is just fine). 262 intake 270 exhaust camshaft. Stock rods,(I balanced all them at 618 grams) intake, 850 thermoquad, HP exhaust manifolds, 452 heads (with a little magic) distributor, wires, plugs, dual snorkel air cleaner. stock 727 with the stock stall. Factory 9.25 rear end with 3.23 axle ratio. On the dyno- 393 HP at 5900rpm at the rear tire and 489 foot pounds of torque at 3200 rpm. If you need any solid advice on building up your motor feel free to call me or message me here. Justin 9018597210

Thank you for the offer! Unfortunately I still haven't made any progress. I have all of the parts for the lower end, just need to find the time to sit down and start assembly. I'm going to be talking to a shop soon about doing some mild port and polish work on the heads.
