Here: bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=cops&thread=775&post=5118Steam posted this pic of a 77 Fury with a vent window (see passenger window) and asked: > can you take out the entire vent window and glass and replace it with non > vent window glass? From what I can tell, you can't replace just the glass - you need to replace the entire mechanism inside the door. The following pic is from the parts catalog. The repair manual has some other pictures that has more info, but this page gets the point across pretty well. The vent window / frame I outlined in red fits within the door where the glass run channel goes on a non-vent window car. So if you had a vent window car and wanted to put in a non-vent window you'd need to: 1) remove vent frame and entire mechanism with window glass and throw away 2) install entire mechanism with window glass from a non-vent door 3) and then you'll be missing glass run channel in the forward portion of the frame. Since it would be almost impossible to transfer that from door to door (due to it being old and brittle), you'll need new glass run channel. I put some part numbers for that in another thread. your friend in swapping parts around, arthur

Here: www.bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=owners&thread=931&post=7043Legendary asked about window regulators. It looks like there are 4 types of regulators for the front windows: a) non-vent (used for sedan, s/w, and 4-door hardtop) b) vent (used for sedan and s/w) c) vent (used for 4-door hardtop) d) 2-door hardtop for rear doors, just one part number for the regulator. Here's the page from the 74 parts catalog. your friend in exciting swap options, arthur

Sorry for possibly a newbie question, I can't find the info online but can someone tell me what the story is with front quarterlight windows on monacos?
In my hunt for a 74 sedan I've found one with quarterlight windows. I know the original blumo and most reps don't have them so is this a different year model with a 74 clip or were they an option when new or something?
Cheers

Ah so not wanting to sound stupid but whats the idea of them? Is a bit annoying as I found quite a nice looking Black 74 but I'm not keen on the look of those windows Hopefully Sent from my phone

Is a bit annoying as I found quite a nice looking Black 74 but I'm not keen on the look of those windows Hi MrRR: The vent window was an option on the Monacos. > Most often found on older vehicles on the front door, it is a small > roughly triangular shaped glass in front of and separate from the > main window that rolls down (see top right image). It has hinges > and a latch, thus it can be opened for additional ventilation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarter_glassIf you have a door with a vent-window, you can swap-in the glass for a non-vent-window as detailed earlier in this thread, but with so many parts around, its likely easier to simply find an entire door assembly that includes the window you like.

Thought I'd lost my thread then Ah thank you very much. Very interesting reading. I may be tempted to source some doors then depending what I buy. You're quite welcome. Sometimes it seems a good idea to merge threads together to keep information in the same place - but it can be surprising when you see that your thread is gone! The board does have the option to leave the original thread with a message pointing to the new thread, and I used that for a while, but it just clogged up the place with threads pointing to new threads, so now when stuff is moved, it just magically moves. But the info will show up in "new topics", as I won't move something without adding some next text after it.
