Better pictures will follow when I find my camera and the moderator could move this topic to owner's forum. Hi SD: I moved it to the owner's forum, and changed the heading to "SD's Monaco". If you'd like the title changed and don't have access to change the thread title (by modifying the first post in the thread), just let me know and I'll change it to what you like. Those are some good starter pics. > ...the alternator doesn't work I guess it's a whole different game owning such a car overseas. You likely can't just walk down to the auto parts store and get a replacement. It's taking Monaco ownership to another level! Title is good, thanks. We have good shops for 'merican cars here, but they can be very expensive. I've got a 105a bosch unipoint alternator for spare if the problem won't go away with wire checking.

Now I realized that I got the van with a working alternator standing still at the "cabin". And checked from rockauto-catalog, which offers the same part numbers. lolz. I also had to park next to our neighbor's new car:

I also had to park next to our neighbor's new car: That's awesome! If they ever need a tow to the mechanic, you can put their car on top the Monaco, strap it down, and drive them over there.

Now it shows steady 12,2v with the other alternator. Not good.

It could be your external voltage regulator on the passenger fender, it looks like it may have overheated at one time with that rust mark on the corner. See if the van has the same type, you might be able to swap it. Hope it works out.

Clean car sd! Was a lot cleaner then I thought it would be! Look forward to the ongoing thread.
The wire going to the battery doesnt look to outa place. I think that pretty much the same way its setup on mine, minus all the lil wires running add ons..

Clean car sd! Was a lot cleaner then I thought it would be! That's exactly what I was thinking! Kinda makes me wish I would have snagged that one myself! Oh, well, glad to see the spirit of the blues reaches around the world!

Now I got no power at all. The interior light is dead and obviously nothing happens when I turn the key. I think I broke something yesterday when I cleaned wire connectors or then it's the battery's ground cable(looks awful, could've broke that because I take it off everytime I leave the car). But I got it charging yesterday, which ended after small drive(heated?) . I think the alternator needs new diodes and/or that thing which goes around it. I'll test the van's alternator when I find electricity again. Edit: power found. It was the + terminal's thin wire and that penis shaped connector which caused the blackout. And I didn't even touch that when cleaning. Put in a new + wire and added another - wire between body & battery.

I think I still need a new regulator: This one was attached to car, looks nice! The spare. Also crap. I did some vacuum line checking and found the distributor's hose completely broken. I don't wonder anymore why the engine stops at nice places like intersections etc.

Slowly but steady.. I installed new spark plugs+wires, distributor cap+thing that goes round there, "new" rear tires, that vacuum hose, and the regulator, now there's enough voltage. And it's still coughing(I'll get a new ignition box + coil soon, old box has melted nicely to the firewall). I wouldn't want to invest in a carb rebuild kit, because I'm getting a 4 holed later anyway, but If it doesn't stop coughing & dying at lowered rpm I have to think of that too( after turning the distributor/ adjusting the carb, haven't done that yet because the box is probably shot and don't want to mess them up too much). Nice surprise came when I changed the rear wheels, the brake drums were loose and came out easily, no violence needed at all Looks good enough and the springs didn't brake when I tried them. I think I may have 2,5" drums with 2" shoes there, because the drums came out so easy and the drum's surface is over 6cm. How do you take off the windshield wiper system? The pass side is broke, just like in the movie, and even the knob there won't turn at all( I didnt get the arm off with these directions bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=maintenance&action=display&thread=584 , must try later with a screwdriver or a hook) Other thing missing was the windshield washer's pump. I'll try a '88 Civic's pump if I can find it from my storage.

Hi SD: You MUST get both arms off before removing the system. 1) Pull up on arm (tilting it forward against spring pressure). 2) Pull locking tab out. 3) Pull arm off. Is it step 3 that doesn't work? You'll likely need a screwdriver or something to help pry the arm off. Use a block of wood or something to pry against to protect the finish of the car. Once those arms are off, then you disconnect the wiper motor from the assembly, then unbolt the assembly from the car and the assembly comes right out. your friend in at least one windshield wiper working, arthur

^I couldn't find(or feel) the locking tab. I'll try again with weapons, of course there's a possibility that it's been installed wrong- in worst case glued in. I also found a wasp nest under the rear door and another one from the rear brake drum( not in it). I think they were older ones, because the babies were dead. Strange clayish sort of "material". Didn't get a photo because I had to annihilate them immediatelly with the jack's handle. One car guy from finland found black widows from his imported Continental(?). I recall that he found one, killed it and then poisoned his garage with a result of over 100 dead black widow babies around and over the car.
