Not sure if this is the right thread, but an old Craig 8 Track player, which wires go where? Black and Red are pretty self explanatory, but which wires are positive.negative for speakers? I have yellow, grey, white, blue, purple, brown, green, red, and black...

This is what I have listed for the S601:
Brown - Rear Left Green - Front Left Red - Positive Yellow - Dial Dimmer Orange - Rear common Black - Front Common Gray - Front Right White - Rear Right
* The list of colors are a little different than yours, but maybe it will get you almost there.

Does common mean ground (or speaker negative)? Shouldn't black be ground for the unit itself? And where would I wire the dimmer to?

I've never had one to test it out, but my best guess is that those are the speaker neg's, and the main unit is grounded through the chassis itself.
I'm also thinking the yellow/ dimmer is the light bulb wire.

I triple hip TK826:
> Brown - Rear Left > Green - Front Left > Red - Positive > Yellow - Dial Dimmer > Orange - Rear common > Black - Front Common > Gray - Front Right > White - Rear Right
Hip to that.
> [orange and black] are the speaker neg's, and the main unit is > grounded through the chassis itself.
Double hip to that.
> the yellow/ dimmer is the light bulb wire [the dash lighting, that is turned on when the parking lights are turned on]
Triple hip to that.

Arthur, check the 601 you got from me. I labeled every wire on it with masking tape.

Arthur, check the 601 you got from me. I labeled every wire on it with masking tape. Hi LV: Here's what I get: I think that wiring will work, but it's a little different than what the manual calls for. It uses a common ground for all 4 speakers instead of using separate front and rear grounds. your friend in grounds for everybody, arthur
